We are hiring a Temporary Customer Service Representative - Information Desk & Call Center - Part time for one of our clients in Fairfax, VA.
Job Description:
The Temporary Customer Service Representative provides front-line support by answering inbound calls to the county's main information line, transferring callers to the appropriate agency or department for response, and assisting in-person visitors at the information desk. This role ensures a professional, courteous, and accurate first point of contact for residents, employees, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Answer incoming calls to the county's main information line.
  • Determine the nature of the inquiry and transfer callers to the appropriate agency or department for response.
  • Greet and assist visitors at the information desk, providing clear directions and ensuring they are connected to the correct staff or location.
  • Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor in all interactions, both in-person and over the phone.
  • Use provided reference materials, directories, and scripts to assist with inquiries.
  • Work independently during certain shifts, with supervisor and team contact numbers available for questions or escalations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow county customer service standards.
Skills Required:
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment

  • Temporary / Non-Merit This will not be on a consistent basis, but rather during staff vacations and training sessions. Schedule: 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM (unless otherwise noted) - Thursday, July 16 (9:00 AM - 1:00 PM) - Wednesday, July 22 - Wednesday, August 12 - Wednesday, August 19 Manager may add additional dates later, but this is what is needed right now. Manager would like to have ongoing coverage on an as needed basis.
