Position: 21st Century After-School Program Paraprofessionals
(Temporary - Grant Funded Position) - 6 positions
Reports to: Building Principal
Terms of Employment:
  • Part-Time: 4-10 hours per week, pending scheduled dates
  • 3:20 pm to 5:15 pm, unless modified due to weather or operational need
  • Four weekly sessions (M-F) with up to one hour of planning time per week
  • Every other Friday each month

Salary:
  • $24.12 per hour during program hours and training
  • $16.56 per hour for professional learning and training

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Implementation & Student Engagement
  • Assist teachers and program staff with after-school activities that support academic strategies, enrichment, and student connectedness.
  • Help manage student entry, transitions, and dismissal procedures to ensure a safe and orderly environment.
  • Model positive behavior, support SEL and leadership development activities, and reinforce program expectations.
  • Encourage student participation and help facilitate engaging group interactions.

Student Support & Leadership Development
  • Provide small-group or one-on-one support to students during academic and enrichment activities.
  • Support students with organization, study skills, and personal goal setting.
  • Reinforce positive behaviors and help students build interpersonal and leadership skills.

Community Engagement & Family Partnerships
  • Assist with family and community events, including community nights, parent/caregiver workshops, and student showcases.
  • Help communicate program goals and activities to families, encouraging participation and involvement.
  • Support initiatives that strengthen school-home partnerships and promote student well-being (academic, social-emotional, health).

Data, Safety, and Compliance
  • Assist with attendance tracking and other data collection as directed by program staff.
  • Supervise and ensure student safety during daily activities, transitions, and field trips.
  • Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and preparedness for each assigned session.

Professional Learning & Summer Programming
  • Participate in required professional learning and training aligned with 21CCLC guidelines.
  • Support summer school programming as assigned.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by the Site Coordinator, District Leadership, or Principal.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Paraprofessional Certification in DEEDS required with either passing ParaPro test score and official high school transcript or 2-4 year degree
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework
  • Experience working with youth in schools, after-school programs, or community organizations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with elementary, middle, and high school students.
  • Commitment to fostering inclusive, engaging, and safe learning environments.
  • Bilingual skills preferred but not required.
