Job Title: Billing Clerk

Job Summary:

The Temporary Billing Clerk performs essential clerical duties, including data entry, billing processing, customer service, and administrative support for water and sewer services. This role involves handling customer inquiries, preparing billing adjustments, maintaining records, and ensuring accurate data management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process water and sewer billing, including data entry, account updates, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Assist in calculating and preparing billing abatements and adjustments.
  • Operate a multi-line phone system, directing calls, answering inquiries, and resolving customer concerns.
  • Provide front-counter customer service by addressing billing questions and processing requests.
  • Generate and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly reports as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with city, departmental, and government policies and procedures.
  • Perform general clerical tasks, including filing, record maintenance, and word processing.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in customer service, billing, or data entry preferred.
  • Basic computer proficiency (MS Office, data entry systems).
  • Experience with MUNIS software or government billing systems is a plus.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Work Environment:

  • Office setting with standard business hours (may vary based on department needs).
  • Temporary position with potential for extension based on performance and workload.
