Job description

About Company:

Kundlas Consulting Group LLC is a professional consulting firm specializing in construction inspection and compliance services for public infrastructure projects. Our core services include on-site inspection of roadway, bridge, and utility construction to ensure adherence to engineering specifications, safety standards, and contract requirements. We support clients with daily reporting, materials testing coordination, schedule tracking, and quality assurance oversight. Additional services include project management, grants management for federally funded infrastructure and disaster recovery programs.

About the Role:

The IT Systems/Network Engineer will support the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) READI contract by managing advanced information technology infrastructure and systems that support emergency response, disaster recovery, infrastructure restoration, and continuity of operations. This role provides technical expertise in network architecture, systems administration, cybersecurity, telecommunications, and enterprise IT operations to ensure reliable and secure technology services during mission-critical operations.

The IT Systems/Network Engineer will design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot network and systems infrastructure supporting temporary facilities, emergency operations centers, field deployments, and recovery programs. The position requires close coordination with government stakeholders, cybersecurity personnel, telecommunications providers, and multidisciplinary project teams to ensure secure, resilient, and operationally effective IT environments.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Network Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Senior-level experience in IT systems engineering, network engineering, systems administration, or related information technology roles.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, firewall administration, and enterprise network architecture.
  • Experience administering Windows and Linux server environments and associated enterprise services.
  • Experience implementing, monitoring, and troubleshooting complex network and systems infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, network security controls, and information assurance requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to coordinate with technical teams, leadership, and government stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry certifications such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+, Security+, CISSP, Microsoft Certified, VMware Certified Professional (VCP), or equivalent credentials.
  • Experience supporting USACE, DoD, FEMA, DHS, or other federal information technology and emergency management programs.
  • Experience supporting emergency operations centers, disaster recovery operations, continuity of operations (COOP), or field-deployed technology systems.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing environments including Microsoft Azure, AWS, or hybrid cloud architectures.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies, network automation, and scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python.
  • Knowledge of NIST cybersecurity frameworks, Risk Management Framework (RMF), and federal information security requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage advanced IT infrastructure and systems supporting emergency response, disaster recovery, and recovery operations.
  • Design, configure, maintain, and optimize network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless networks, and telecommunications systems.
  • Administer enterprise server environments, storage systems, virtualization platforms, and supporting applications.
  • Monitor network and system performance, identify operational issues, and implement corrective actions to maintain service availability and reliability.
  • Implement and maintain cybersecurity controls, access management procedures, intrusion detection systems, VPNs, and security monitoring capabilities.
  • Support deployment and operation of temporary communications systems, field technology assets, and emergency operations infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain network diagrams, system documentation, configuration records, and operational procedures.
  • Support disaster recovery planning, backup management, continuity of operations activities, and system restoration efforts.
  • Coordinate with government personnel, contractors, telecommunications providers, and cybersecurity teams to support operational requirements.
  • Participate in emergency response support activities and provide technical assistance during disaster recovery operations as required.

Skills:

The ideal candidate must possess advanced expertise in network engineering, systems administration, enterprise IT operations, and infrastructure management to support mission-critical emergency response and recovery activities. Strong knowledge of routing, switching, firewall management, wireless networking, virtualization, server administration, and enterprise architecture is essential for maintaining secure and reliable technology environments. Experience troubleshooting complex network and system issues, implementing cybersecurity controls, and supporting continuity of operations is critical for ensuring operational readiness during disaster response missions. The candidate should demonstrate proficiency in Windows and Linux environments, cloud technologies, virtualization platforms, and network monitoring tools.
