Job description

Bednark Studio is looking for an experienced Estimator to support the sales process by developing detailed cost estimates for projects. This is a collaborative position that works closely with members from departments across the company such as account management, project management, and production.
The role of the estimator is a critical one that requires a high level of organization, detail, and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
This positions reports to the office M-F, 9a-6p
Job Responsibilities Include:
  • Analyze renderings and technical drawings and other documents to prepare a breakdown of time, material, and labor estimates.
  • Prepare worksheets for entry into client proposals/contracts indicating inclusions and exclusions.
  • When required secure proposals from vendors and/or subcontractors for inclusion in worksheets.
  • Confer with in house managers and personnel to discuss the feasibility of projects outside the normal range of capabilities.
  • Assist project managers in developing costs for change orders for ongoing projects.
  • Use in-house costing systems to check actual vs. estimated costs on projects.
  • Work toward developing a database of costs to facilitate ongoing estimates.

The ideal candidate has:
  • 5 to 10 years of experience as an estimator in the field of Millwork, Fabrication, or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of Innergy & it's estimating system.
  • Experience in estimating, constructing, project management, general commercial construction, retail fixtures, and or trade exhibits.
  • Ability to read architectural plans, specifications, take-offs, and interpret material and fabrication requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Fluent in wood, metal, solid surface, plexi, and glass.
  • Strong problem-solving and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organized and attentive to detail.
