Join the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay as a part-time, temporary HR Assistant and help advance a mission dedicated to access, student success, and community impact. In this role, you will support a wide range of human resources functions-including recruitment, onboarding, and employee records-while serving as a trusted resource for employees and leaders. You will help interpret and apply HR policies, guide recruitment and staffing processes, and contribute to a welcoming and efficient workplace experience that reflects UW-Green Bay's strategic priorities of fostering student success, strengthening community partnerships, and optimizing institutional effectiveness.

As a key member of our team, you will prepare administrative communications and reports, respond to inquiries across multiple channels, and help maintain smooth daily operations. Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Receives and responds to inquiries in-person, via email, and through various communication mediums and relays information to appropriate entities
  • Prepares and organizes routine administrative communications, resources, and reports and maintains office equipment and supplies, under close supervision
  • Assists with recruitment, personnel resource allocation, new employee orientations, and maintenance of employee records according to established policies and procedures
  • Interprets, applies, and disseminates routine recruitment and staffing policies, procedures, and options to leadership and employees; recommends best strategies according to established objectives and goals

Minimum hourly pay rate of $18.00.

This position is not exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Required Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, Administrative Services, or related field OR 2 years ofdirectly relatedprofessional work experience

  • Working knowledge of desktop hardware and business software programs (e.g.MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Power Point, and the Internet).Knowledge of Adobe,Workday,Word Press,andKentico platforms preferred.

  • Ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.

  • Flexibility and the willingness to learn new systems, processes, and technological applications and recommend improvements.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Managementor Related Field

  • Bilingual, preferably in Spanish, Hmong, Somali, or Oneida

  • Working knowledge of Wisconsin Administrative Codes, state statutes, Federal/State lawsand regulations, andState of Wisconsin Records Management Guidelines and General Records Schedules for the University of Wisconsin System

  • Demonstrated experience in supporting organizational efforts to create and nurture a diverse an inclusive community

Conditions of Appointment:

Position is a part-time (50%) University Staff Temporary appointment. The work hours for this position will be determined at the time of hire on the Green Bay campus.

A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s). In addition, if the final selected candidate has prior work history within the last 7 years with Universities of Wisconsin, a personnel file review check for employee misconduct will be completed. A [six/twelve]-month probationary period is required for this position. In compliance with the Wisconsin Fair Employment Act, the University does not discriminate on the basis of arrest or conviction record.

Benefit Details

The Universities of Wisconsin provides an excellent benefits package to meet the diverse needs of its employees. For benefits eligible positions, this includes several health insurance options, with annual deductibles as low as $250/individual and $500/family. We participate in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS), where employer contributions begin immediately, and employees are fully vested after 5 years of service. The Universities of Wisconsin also provides supplemental retirement savings programs including a 403(b) and Deferred Compensation.

In addition, eligible employees receive several types of paid leave benefits, which are prorated for employees working less than 100%. This includes 9 legal holidays, 36 hours of personal holiday and between 96-130 hours of sick leave annually and paid parental leave. Employee Misconduct
