Job description

Medical Scheduling SpecialistOverview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Medical Scheduling Specialist to support patient access and coordination in a fast-paced, non-patient-facing office environment. This role is responsible for scheduling, registration, insurance verification, and assisting patients with billing and financial inquiries over the phone or via email.


Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Scheduling & Registration
    • Schedule and register patients via phone and email
    • Collect and update patient demographics and insurance information
    • Manage new patient scheduling and maintain accurate schedules
  • Insurance & Financial Coordination
    • Verify insurance coverage and obtain referral forms
    • Educate patients on billing processes and financial assistance options
    • Answer insurance and billing inquiries from patients and third-party payers
  • Care Coordination
    • Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to schedule urgent and referred patients
    • Process internal physician referrals for clinical care
    • Adjust schedules based on provider availability and needs
  • Patient Communication
    • Conduct appointment reminder calls
    • Provide clear, professional communication to patients and stakeholders
    • Support patient follow-ups and scheduling changes
  • Administrative Support
    • Maintain accurate records in the EMR system
    • Assist with account maintenance and scheduling updates
    • Utilize patient reminder systems to improve attendance and efficiency

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Experience with insurance verification and financial counseling
  • Proficiency with EMR systems and data entry
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology
  • Excellent organization, prioritization, and time management skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy

Nice to Have

Work Environment & Benefits
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Setting: Onsite, non-patient-facing office environment

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $27.00/hr.
