Network Automation Engineer - Nokia Core

Location: Plano, TX (Onsite - Local Candidates Only)
Duration: 3-Month Contract (Time-Bound Project)

Strong hands-on experience with Nokia Packet Core (UPF, SMF), telecom FM/PM data, Python-based network automation, Bash/Ansible, Linux/Unix, APIs, Kubernetes/OpenShift, OSS/NOC integration, and observability tools like Prometheus and Grafana.

Job Summary

Our client, a leading multinational telecommunications technology company, is seeking a hands-on Network Automation Engineer to support a critical Core Implementation and Observability initiative.

This role will extend an existing platform to ingest, normalize, and operationalize Fault Management (FM) data alongside existing Performance Management (PM) telemetry. The focus will be on Packet Core network functions, enabling downstream analytics and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) capabilities for NOC and Core Operations teams.

This is a project-based role requiring full-time onsite support in Plano, TX.
Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement ingestion pipelines for Fault Management (FM) alarm data from Core Network Functions
  • Normalize and correlate FM alarms with existing PM time-series telemetry
  • Integrate alarm and performance data from NOC / OSS systems into a unified operational model
  • Deliver clean, reliable datasets for analytics and RCA engines
  • Collaborate with analytics teams and domain experts to ensure data usability and accuracy
  • Ensure solutions meet operational reliability, security, and performance standards
  • Document data models, ingestion workflows, and operational assumptions

Required Technical Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience with Nokia Core Network platforms, specifically:
    • Packet Core (UPF, SMF)
  • Experience in Core Network Operations / National Core Implementations
  • Strong automation and scripting skills:
    • Python (Required)
    • Bash / Ansible (Preferred)
  • Solid understanding of telecom Fault Management (FM) and Performance Management (PM) data (alarms, KPIs, thresholds)
  • Experience working in cloud-native or virtualized environments (Kubernetes / OpenShift preferred)
  • Strong Linux/Unix administration skills
  • Experience with APIs and event-driven systems
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools:
    • Prometheus
    • InfluxDB
    • Grafana (or equivalent)

Preferred Experience

  • NOC environment exposure
  • Experience supporting telecom operations teams
  • Knowledge of analytics platforms and RCA workflows
