Job Description Summary
Sporting Kansas City's Law Intern will hold a temporary academic internship within our Legal Department, with an emphasis on legal support and professional development in sports and entertainment law.
This role is offered unpaid, intended for students seeking school credit, and includes direct exposure to legal operations, compliance, contract review, and day-to-day legal processes within a professional sports organization.
Job Description
Essential Functions
  • Assist Legal team with drafting, reviewing, and editing contracts, agreements, and legal correspondence.

  • Conduct legal research on employment law, compliance, intellectual property, sponsorships, and league regulations.

  • Support maintenance of legal files and contract databases.

  • Observe, and as appropriate support, negotiations, risk assessments, or compliance-related meetings.

  • Provide administrative assistance, including organizing documents and updating legal records.

  • Attend and contribute to internal legal meetings and briefings.

  • Perform additional legal or project-based tasks as assigned.

Skills and Experience
  • Currently enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school (1L, 2L, or 3L).

  • Eligible to earn academic credit for the internship.

  • Coursework or demonstrated interest in contract law, compliance, or related legal disciplines.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Familiarity with legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, Lexis) preferred.

Additional Requirements
  • Unpaid position; can be taken for school credit.

  • Flexible schedule to accommodate law school course load.

  • On-site presence required at Sporting Kansas City Front Office; some remote work may be accommodated.
