Job description

Kennel Assistant/Animal Care Attendant

Briarcrest Veterinary Clinic is seeking a dependable, mature, compassionate, and hardworking individual to join our team as a Kennel Assistant/Animal Care Attendant.

We are looking for someone who is interested in a long-term position with a stable, locally owned veterinary practice--not just a temporary job. If you enjoy working with animals, take pride in keeping things clean and organized, and have a strong work ethic, we'd love to meet you.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Providing daily care for hospitalized and boarding patients, including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, reptiles, turtles, tortoises hedgehogs, and other small animals
  • Walking dogs and providing supervised outdoor exercise as appropriate
  • Cleaning and disinfecting kennels, cages and enclosures
  • Scooping litter boxes and maintaining feline housing areas
  • Cleaning and caring for our reptile room
  • Laundry and general housekeeping duties
  • Helping maintain a clean, safe and healthy environment for all patients

This is an active position that requires someone who is comfortable being on their feet throughout the day, lifting, bending and performing routine cleaning tasks while maintaining attention to detail.

Holiday availability is required. Employees who work holidays are compensated at double-time, and eligible full-time employees also receive paid holidays after the introductory period.

Previous veterinary or kennel experience is helpful but not required. We are happy to train the right person with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Because this position involves the care of our patients, access to clinic keys and alarm codes, and working independently at times, a pre-employment background check and drug screening are required.
