What is a temp trucking job?

Temp trucking jobs are temporary positions in the trucking industry where drivers are hired for a limited period, often to cover seasonal demand, special projects, or employee absences. These jobs can range from a few days to several months and may involve driving different types of trucks or transporting various goods. Temp trucking offers flexibility for drivers who prefer short-term assignments and can be a great way to gain experience, explore different routes, or supplement income. Staffing agencies or trucking companies typically hire temp truck drivers, and requirements usually include a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) and a clean driving record.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a temp trucking driver?

To thrive as a Temp Trucking Driver, you need a valid commercial driver's license (CDL), a clean driving record, and knowledge of safety regulations. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems, electronic logging devices (ELDs), and basic vehicle maintenance is typically required. Reliability, time management, and strong communication skills make drivers stand out, especially when adapting to new routes and clients frequently. These skills ensure safe, efficient deliveries and help build trust with employers during short-term assignments.
