Position Summary
The Quality Control (QC) Technician is responsible for supporting the quality control process throughout
the production of precast concrete products. This position performs pre-pour and post-pour inspections,
concrete testing, product labeling, and identification of defects to help ensure products meet Capital
Precast quality standards and applicable specifications.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, detail-oriented individual interested in developing a
career in precast concrete quality control. The successful candidate must be willing to learn, complete
required training and obtain industry certifications within the required timeframes.

Primary Responsibilities:
Pre-Pour Inspection
  • Perform pre-pour inspections prior to concrete placement.
  • Verify dimensions, measurements, forms, reinforcement, and other required components according to applicable specifications and quality standards.
  • Identify and communicate discrepancies or quality concerns prior to pouring.
Post-Pour Inspection
  • Inspect finished precast products following production.
  • Verify product dimensions and overall quality.
  • Identify visible defects, damage, or other nonconforming conditions.
  • Communicate quality concerns and assist with appropriate documentation.
Concrete Testing
  • Perform required concrete testing in accordance with established procedures.
  • Accurately record testing results and related quality control information.
  • Assist in maintaining testing equipment and QC materials as required.
Product Identification and Labeling
  • Apply required labels and product identification accurately.
  • Verify that labels and identifying information correspond with the correct product.
  • Help ensure products are properly identified before being released or moved to the next stage of production.
Quality and Defect Identification
  • Inspect products for defects and deviations from established quality standards.
  • Report identified defects or concerns to the appropriate supervisor or manager.
  • Assist with documenting nonconforming products and corrective actions as required.
Documentation and Administrative Support
  • Complete QC inspection forms, testing records, and other required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Enter or maintain QC information using a computer or laptop as required.
  • Maintain organized and accurate quality records.
Other Duties
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Quality Control department, production operations, and company objectives.
Required Testing and Certifications:
Entry-Level QC Technician Aptitude Test
  • Candidates will complete a 15-minute Entry-Level QC Technician Aptitude Test during the interview process.
NPCA Production and Quality School (PQS) Level I
  • Employee must enroll in and successfully complete NPCA PQS Level I within three (3) months of the start date.
ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician – Grade I
  • Employee must enroll in the ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician – Grade I certification no later than twelve (12) months after the start date.
Continued employment in the QC Technician role may require successful completion and maintenance
of applicable certifications.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully within ADA,
  • FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Ability to work in a precast concrete manufacturing environment and move throughout production areas as necessary to perform inspections and testing.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform measurements and inspections throughout the workday.
  • Ability to safely use required QC testing and measuring equipment.
