We are seeking on-call Temporary QC Technicians to view audio and video elements for sync, dropouts and other imperfections, and ensure they meet client specifications on an as-needed basis, sometimes with as little as one day's notice. In addition to viewing feature and episodic content, the QC Technician will also conduct reviews of contents and metadata for files being delivered to streaming services, and occasional navigation reviews of DVD and Blu-ray discs. This is a great opportunity for someone who is team-oriented, technically skilled, systems-oriented, and has an overall "Roll Up Your Sleeves" approach to troubleshooting. The ideal Digital Video QC Technician will possess at least 1 year of experience working in QC with various formats of digital video and physical sources, including expertise in streaming video such as Disney+, Netflix, and iTunes packages as well as DVD, Blu-ray, and UHD Blu-ray.
Key Responsibilities
  • The ability to complete linear and master QC reviews of streaming digital video/audio files to platform specifications when needed (iTunes, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc.)
  • Well versed in metadata and packaging checks for multiple platforms (iTunes, Hulu, Amazon, Google, etc)
  • Familiarity with various A/V formats (Pro-Res, mp4, etc) and timed-text formats and behavior (.scc, .itt, etc)
  • The ability to work in Final Cut Pro or Premiere as a day-to-day workflow
  • Ability to identify and report quality errors in digital video/audio assets (sync, dropouts, format issues etc.)
  • Confirming basic technical requirements
  • Submitting reports based on findings
  • Error checking and verifying XML documents prior to delivery
  • Strong attention to detail, especially in evaluating workload/deadline projections at top level
  • Abide by security policies, including the ability to not have your cell phone with you while working.

Essential Qualifications / Competencies
  • Experience in an operational role in the media industry.
  • Understanding of video compression and various codecs used by VOD platforms and broadcasters
  • Ability to work with minimal direction while managing a heavy workload.
  • Strong organization skills and ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines.
  • Flexibility to switch among different tasks day to day and with work schedule.
  • Enjoy work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts if needed (AM, PM, Weekends).
  • BS/BA in related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
