What is a temp project?

Temp Project jobs are temporary positions created to support specific projects within an organization. These roles typically have a defined start and end date, and focus on achieving particular goals or completing certain tasks within the project's timeline. Temp Project workers may be hired for their specialized skills and are often brought in to provide additional support during busy periods or when expertise is needed for a limited duration. Once the project is completed, the job often concludes as well. These positions can be found in a variety of industries, including IT, construction, marketing, and business consulting.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a temp project manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Temp Project Manager, you need strong organizational skills, project management experience, and often a bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Familiarity with project management software such as Microsoft Project or Asana, and certifications like PMP or PRINCE2, are commonly required. Excellent communication, adaptability, and teamwork help you quickly integrate with new teams and drive results on short timelines. These skills ensure effective project delivery, stakeholder satisfaction, and seamless transitions in temporary roles.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in temporary project roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in temporary project roles often encounter challenges such as quickly adapting to new team dynamics, rapidly learning project-specific processes, and managing tight deadlines. To address these challenges, it’s helpful to proactively communicate with team members, seek clarity on expectations early, and remain flexible in your approach. Embracing a solution-oriented mindset and leveraging previous experiences with diverse teams can also enhance your effectiveness in short-term assignments.

OneSource Employment Solutions

Pacific Grove, CA • On-site

Temporary

This job post has expired 2 days ago. Applications are no longer accepted.

Job description

OneSource Employment Solutions is hiring 6-15 General Laborers for a temporary project at one of the Monterey Peninsula's most beautiful and historic properties, located right on the coast in Pacific Grove. This is steady, straightforward work through the fall and holiday season — no experience required, and you'll be done each day in one of the nicest work settings around.

We're a local Santa Cruz staffing firm and we take care of our people — weekly pay, W-2 employment, and a team that answers the phone when you call.

Industry: Hospitality / Facilities & Property Restoration

Job Type: Temporary Assignment (approx. 15 weeks)

Location: Pacific Grove, CA (on-site, Asilomar Conference Grounds)

Pay: $19.00/hr, paid weekly

Duration: September 23, 2026 – January 7, 2027

Number of Positions: 15

Requirements

What You'll Do:

  • Remove furniture from buildings, break it down, and load it into on-site dumpsters
  • Clean interior walls using damp rags
  • Oil and condition wood surfaces with rags
  • General project labor and site cleanup as directed by the on-site supervisor

What You'll Need:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and stay on your feet through a shift
  • Reliable transportation to Pacific Grove
  • Dependable attendance — this is a crew that counts on each other daily
  • Ability to follow directions carefully (this is a historic property, so care matters)
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. and ability to pass a standard background check

Nice to Have:

  • Prior general labor, moving, janitorial, or construction cleanup experience
  • Experience working around historic or delicate finishes

Benefits

Why OneSource:

  • Weekly pay, every week, on time
  • W-2 employment with workers' comp coverage — not a 1099 gig
  • Work at a landmark coastal property, not a warehouse
  • Local staffing team that knows you by name
  • Strong performance here can lead to future assignments with our clients
