Job description

Driver Helper

Location: Grand Junction, CO

Duration: 6+ Months

Shift: Monday - Saturday Could start as early as 2 am - finish

Driver Helpers ride along with a certified Driver they will NOT be driving. A Driver Helper supports delivery drivers by unloading, verifying, and delivering food products to customer locations such as restaurants, schools, and hospitals. This role requires a strong focus on accuracy, safety, and customer service in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment. Driver Helpers regularly handle heavy product loads, use hand trucks and other delivery equipment, assist with inventory checks, and help ensure each delivery is completed efficiently and professionally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist drivers with unloading products from trailers and moving them to designated customer delivery areas using hand trucks, dollies, or other equipment.
  • Confirm delivery accuracy with customers by checking orders, rotating products, and inspecting product quality.
  • Provide professional customer service, including addressing delivery concerns or escalating issues as needed.
  • Secure products in the truck to minimize damage during transport.
  • Follow company safety procedures and support pre-trip inspections and safe delivery practices.
  • Count and verify inventory accurately, complete required paperwork, and identify missing items or delivery shortages.
Required Qualifications and Physical Demands

Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 90 pounds. Ability to walk, bend, reach, push, pull, and climb in and out of delivery trucks throughout the workday. Basic math skills for counting inventory and completing delivery documentation accurately. Strong communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach. Experience using two-wheel dollies or electric pallet jacks is preferred. High school diploma or GED preferred.
