Position Summary
Under general supervision of the assigned supervisor, as part of the Career Education Division, the Special Projects Instructional Assistant will support EMT or MLT Certificated staff.
This position is filled on an "as-needed" basis for Folsom Lake College. Applicants may be contacted and hired for assignments throughout the semester based on campus needs. The pool remains open for the semester and is refreshed before each new semester.
Applicants will remain active in the pool until it is refreshed. At that time, they will receive an email with instructions for applying to the new pool.

Typical Duties
Career Education Instructional Assistants will assist with a variety of program tasks, including, but not limited to, the following:
  • Assist certificated staff with instructional duties by working with students individually or in groups in the improvement of academic knowledge and technical skills.
  • Tutors students individually and in small groups in concept understanding and the use of specialized equipment.
  • Maintains Safety standards.
  • Prepares classroom demonstrations according to Instructor's guidelines.
  • Maintains laboratory equipment.
  • Assists in evaluating students' work.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience/Education: One year's experience in the field or completion of related coursework.
Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.
(Experience Requirement: One year of experience is equal to 12 months of experience at 40 hours per week. Applicable part-time experience will be converted to the full-time equivalent for purposes of meeting the experience requirement. Education Requirement: One year of education is equal to 30 semester units.)
Education must be from an accredited institution.
