Entry Level Emt Tutor Jobs (NOW HIRING)

Reports To: Program Coordinator / Assistant Principal

Purpose

Support Fire Science and Emergency Medical Technician Program instructors by supervising hands-on lab training, maintaining a safe and organized training environment, and helping students build the practical skills needed for entry-level employment or continued education in emergency services.

What You'll Do

• Support Hands-On Labs: Assist instructors during practical sessions, monitoring students as they practice EMT interventions, hose deployments, ladder carries, and knot-tying, and offering constructive, encouraging feedback.
• Coordinate Training Events: Help set up and oversee high-intensity training days including Vehicle Extrication and end-of-year live-fire Burn Cell exercises with safety, proper PPE use, and protocol adherence as top priorities.
• Facilitate Exams & Assessments: Prepare testing stations, manage student rotations, and help keep practical exam days fair and well-organized.
• Manage Equipment & Inventory: Clean, inventory, and troubleshoot specialized gear (ambulances, trauma kits, extrication tools, SCBAs) to keep everything mission-ready and up to code.
• Oversee Safety & Compliance: Serve as a safety officer during labs, ensure students follow SOGs, and help maintain a clean, hazard-free facility.
• Support Student Success: Tutor and assist students individually or in small groups to reinforce concepts taught by instructors; provide academic support and read/proctor tests as needed for alternate testing accommodations.
• Collaborate: Implement strategies from the Student Services Counselor, share student progress feedback, and attend weekly team meetings.

Qualifications

• Current EMT (Basic or Advanced/Paramedic) and/or state Firefighter II (or equivalent) certification required.
• Paraprofessional educator endorsement (or eligibility to obtain one).
• 23 years of active field experience in EMS or fire services; instructional or coaching experience strongly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Familiarity with Special Education and/or Career and Technical Education programming a plus but not required.
• Bilingual skills helpful, not required.
• Strong working knowledge of fire suppression, extrication, and EMS equipment, along with live-fire safety practices.
• Clear communicator with patience and a supportive, "human-first" approach to mentoring students under pressure.
• Ability to lift heavy equipment, wear full PPE/SCBA when required, and work outdoors in varying weather.

Hourly Rate: $35.50
Schedule: 66 Days (Flexible)
Daily Hours: 8:00am - 2:30pm
