Skills Instructors primarily support hands-on learning by demonstrating EMT skills, coaching students through practice, reinforcing proper technique, and helping ensure students build the confidence and competency needed to perform in real patient care environments.
This is more than simply watching students practice. Skills Instructors are expected to be engaged, professional, approachable, and consistent in helping students meet CERT’s standards.

Skills Instructors who demonstrate reliability, strong instructional ability, professionalism, and leadership may have opportunities to grow into expanded instructional and leadership roles within CERT.
