HR Operations at Georgia State University is seeking to hire an HR Help Desk Specialist (Temp).

WHAT WILL YOU DO:
This position is responsible for Investigating and resolving a broad range of simple to complex HR questions and issues by: answering, evaluating, and accurately prioritizing incoming telephone, voicemail, email requests for assistance from college & division HR officers, managers, and staff across GSU.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Upload background check file for new hires, validating if a prior check was run in the most recent 12 months
  • Respond to requests for background and credit check statuses
  • Answer the HR Help Desk phone, create a ticket for all new callers, and update cases for repeat callers or resolutions
  • Notify HR Officers of background check decisions
  • Provide Tier one responses to callers and help desk tickets. Collaborate with subject matter experts in various departments to ensure tickets and callers receive a timely and accurate solution to their problem
  • Provide the highest level of customer service in person, virtually, and over the phone
  • Assist HR Operations with Employment Verifications and requests for employment information to the Georgia Department of Labor
  • Sort and distribute mail
  • Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree; or High School diploma or GED and four years of customer service, administrative or office experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with office management software.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous experience in a front desk, receptionist, or customer service role is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment.
  • Problem-solving skills to address issues promptly and efficiently.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality customer service with a focus on precision and reliability.
  • Experience in handling sensitive data and ensuring data privacy.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with visitors and team members.
