OBGYN Coding Specialist

Overview

The Coding Specialist is responsible for accurate medical record coding, assigning ICD-10 and CPT-4 codes in compliance with national standards and reimbursement guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Abstract clinical and demographic data from medical records
  • Assign ICD-10 and CPT-4 codes with 95% accuracy per QA standards
  • Identify principal and secondary diagnoses
  • Code diagnostic procedures and request clarification from physicians as needed
  • Maintain current knowledge of coding guidelines
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure complete documentation

Qualifications

  • CPC or other medical coding certification
  • Medical coding experience required
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT-4
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting
