Job description

Job Title: Receptionist (Temporary)

Location: LTSC Main Office (Downtown Los Angeles)

Compensation:$21 - $23/hour, depending on experience

Hours: Temporary, Non-Exempt, Part-Time, 12 - 19 hours per week

Start Date: September 8, 2026, or as soon as position is filled.

End Date: Approximately 2 - 3 months after hire.

Background:

For 45 years, Little Tokyo Service Center (LTSC) has provided a safety net of social welfare and community development services to empower people and communities in need. LTSC provides culturally and linguistically appropriate services to the Japanese American community in the Southland, builds multi-family affordable housing projects to uplift low-income neighborhoods of color throughout Los Angeles, and promotes equitable development and cultural preservation in the Little Tokyo neighborhood.

Summary of Duties:

LTSC is seeking a temporary part-time Receptionist to provide interim support to the Operations Team during recruitment for a permanent administrative role. The Receptionist handles incoming calls to LTSC's main phone line, manages site access, greets in-person clients and visitors, and assists staff at the front desk. The Receptionist contributes to a supportive and welcoming environment for staff, clients, and visitors. This position will be fully in-person at our Downtown LA office, and will be supervised by the Senior Operations Manager.

Responsibilities Include:


Casa Heiwa Office Front Desk/Reception

  • Greet clients and visitors and manage access to the parking garage, building, and office
  • Answer, screen, and direct phone calls to appropriate staff; take messages
  • Provide general help and morale to staff, clients, residents, and visitors while maintaining professionalism and a respectful and compassionate demeanor
  • Assist with other clerical tasks as needed, such as mail and package distribution, handling meeting room reservations, tracking office lending items, data entry, and maintaining a clean and organized reception area
  • Serve as a point of contact for staff for office/operations-related matters, working closely with the Operations Team to escalate matters as needed
  • Contribute, as deemed necessary and appropriate, to other activities related to the agency as a whole
  • Other duties as may be assigned by your supervisor
  • Embody LTSC's guiding practices of open communication, accountability, collaboration, and adaptability


Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

  • Minimum 6 months of administrative or customer service experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Experience working in a culturally diverse setting, and a community-centered and compassionate approach to working with people
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States

Equivalent education or experience can be substituted for all minimum qualifications, except when legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration, are required.
