Job description

Job Summary
The UM-Dearborn Environmental Interpretive Center (EIC) is offering a part-time, student position to assist with general tasks and projects around the EIC and surrounding Environmental Study Area. This position supports the daily operations of the EIC through indoor and outdoor work, including facility upkeep, front-desk staffing, trail support, and other assigned tasks.
This is a great opportunity for a student who enjoys working in a nature-based setting and within a small, highly collaborative team, and is interested in supporting the EIC's educational and environmental mission.
Hours:
Flexible part-time hours based on student availability and EIC needs. EIC building hours open 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday and Friday, on select times on weekends. Schedule is flexible.
Training:
Training and guidance will be provided by experienced EIC staff.

Required Qualifications*
  • UM-Dearborn currently enrolled student
  • Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently
  • Positive attitude and willingness to help with a variety of tasks
  • Comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions

  • Ability to follow directions and complete assigned tasks carefully

Desired Qualifications*
  • Eligible for work-study
  • Major in environmental science, biology, education, sustainability, or related fields
  • Previous experience with outdoor work, maintenance, organizing, or customer service
  • Comfortable lifting/carrying light materials and walking on trails or uneven ground
  • Availability during some peak hours during the week (10:00 AM to 2:00PM)
