About the Position
We are seeking a Telecommunications Specialist to support government facility projects requiring secure, reliable, and fully integrated telecommunications and IT infrastructure. This role will provide hands-on technical coordination through design, construction, commissioning, and closeout phases supporting continuity-of-operations (COOP) and mission-critical environments.
Location: Washington. DC (On-site)
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead coordination of structured cabling, telecommunications, and network infrastructure
  • Oversee data, voice, fiber optic, and pathway installations
  • Coordinate MDF/IDF room layouts, server racks, and IT equipment requirements
  • Coordinate AV and conference room technology systems
  • Review and approve telecom shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and device layouts
  • Coordinate network connectivity for security, access control, and operational systems
  • Oversee cable testing, labeling, certification, and commissioning
  • Support emergency communications and continuity-of-operations systems
  • Coordinate closely with stakeholders, client IT representatives, designers, and subcontractors
  • Participate in progress meetings, quality control inspections, and final acceptance
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in telecommunications, structured cabling, or IT infrastructure for complex facilities
  • Demonstrated experience supporting government or public-sector projects
  • Strong knowledge of telecom standards, testing, commissioning, and documentation
  • Experience working in active construction or renovation environments
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and lead cross-discipline coordination
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Preferred:
  • Experience with secured, laboratory, or continuity-of-operations facilities
  • Familiarity with government IT coordination processes and agency standards
  • Industry certifications such as BICSI/RCDD, AVIXA, or equivalent
Security Clearance & Suitability:
  • Ability to pass background screening for sensitive facilities
