What are we looking for?

The Team Lead-Engineeringis responsible forindependently performing testing and evaluation on a variety of products to the provisions of U.S., Canadian and other international product safety standards; writing reports; and communicating with clients. This position is also responsible for providing local expertise in one or more product categories and mentoring and training less senior technical personnel. This position has the potential for 25% travel.

What youโ€™ll do:
  • Perform testing and evaluation on a variety of products to the provisions of U.S., Canadian, and other international product safety standards; writing reports; and communicating with clients.
  • Provide local expertise in one or more product categories, including mentoring and training less senior technical personnel.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision of Engineers and Technicians, including assigning and overseeing work; training, coaching and mentoring staff; managing employee issues; interviewing; hiring and firing recommendations; approving time and expense; conducting performance reviews; employee development and performance management; ensuring the customersโ€™ needs are fulfilled; ensuring compliance with Intertekโ€™s Quality.
  • Responsible for manpower requirements, projections, and utilization within assigned area.
  • Provide support to sales with quoting, client meetings, etc.
  • Management System and all other policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the hiring, training, development, and performance management of Team members.
  • Responsible for all housekeeping, equipment calibration, and supplies within assigned area.
  • Responsible for efficiency and productivity within assigned area.
  • Responsible for ensuring invoicing is submitted timely; assist with P&L oversight, including forecasting, managing costs, etc.
  • Drive daily projects to ensure team members are meeting deadlines and following safety/quality protocols.
  • Interface with clients to discuss current and upcoming projects.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in a directly related engineering field
  • 4+ years of directly related experience, including product testing
  • Experience in leading a team, either formally or informally
  • Project management experience or training
  • A valid driver's license and reliable driving record
  • Ability to make technical decisions and engineering judgments independently within established parameters
  • Must be selfโ€‘motivated and able to work independently in a fastโ€‘paced, multiโ€‘tasking environment
  • Must be client focused and quality driven
  • Must be able to confront and resolve conflict in an effective manner
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Physical dexterity to operate equipment and perform other functions necessary to effectively and efficiently perform the duties of the job. This may include bending/stooping, turning/twisting, reaching, balancing, and mobility to travel to other work sites.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in both verbal and written formats.
  • Ability to influence others and bring teams together to achieve a common goal.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to travel as business needs dictates at least 25% of the time
Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering
  • Demonstrated experience with testing, inspection and certification to U.S., Canadian, and other international product safety standards, i.e., ANSI, CSA, UL, EN, IEC
  • Experience with product standards in HVAC and/or Industrial
