Job Description Electrical Project Engineer (P.E.) Full-Time | N/W Houston A U.S.-based manufacturer specializing in electrical power systems and packaged equipment is adding a Professional Electrical Project Engineer (P.E.) to its engineering group in Northwest Houston. This role sits at the center of design execution, technical ownership, and cross-functional coordination for complex electrical equipment projects. You'll be responsible for taking projects from concept through manufacturing and testing, working alongside electrical and mechanical engineers, designers, and drafters while interfacing with project management, supply chain, production, quality, and customers

What You'll Own Act as the technical lead for assigned projects from kickoff through final acceptance Develop complete, build-ready engineering design packages for Electrical Equipment Centers (EECs) Engineer systems that integrate mechanical assemblies, structural components, electrical distribution, grounding, raceway, HVAC, lighting, fire alarm, telecom, and customer-furnished equipment Perform electrical load studies and system calculations to support safe and compliant designs Produce interconnection drawings, wiring diagrams, and detailed cable schedules Establish project-specific engineering documentation standards and ensure adherence throughout execution Track scope, budget considerations, and schedule-critical engineering milestones Develop technical bills of material and work closely with procurement to support timely purchasing Coordinate directly with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to resolve technical questions and design challenges Lead and guide designers and drafters, ensuring inputs are complete, accurate, and optimized for manufacturing efficiency Monitor design progress and verify compliance with applicable codes, customer specifications, and internal engineering standards Support document control activities related to submittals, revisions, and transmittals Create project-specific inspection and test plans aligned with contract requirements Partner with quality and test teams to execute FAT/ITP activities Participate in required testing and drive closure of punch list items Ensure all test records and engineering documentation are properly completed and approved Technical Background Required Design experience with electrical distribution systems ranging from 600V through 35kV Hands-on knowledge of MV/LV switchgear and motor control centers Protection, control, and relay application engineering experience Familiarity with substation automation concepts and relay integration Strong working knowledge of NEC construction practices Understanding of NETA acceptance testing requirements Proficiency with engineering and design tools such as AutoCAD, ePlan, and SolidWorks Experience using relay configuration platforms (SEL, GE Multilin) Power system analysis experience with SKM and/or ETAP Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office; project scheduling tools such as MS Project a plus Experience & Education Minimum of 5 years in a Project Engineer role, ideally within industrial or OEM manufacturing environments Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license strongly preferred General working knowledge of ANSI, NEMA, and IEC standards.
