To help us in our mission to professionalize and innovate telecom construction, ByVerTek is now seeking a Procurement Manager (internal title is Vendor Manager) who will play a critical role in ensuring the seamless acquisition of materials, equipment, and services essential for our telecom construction projects across the United States. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with vendors to secure competitive pricing, quality products, and timely delivery. The role requires strategic planning to optimize procurement processes, reduce costs, and mitigate supply chain risks while aligning with project timelines and budgets. The Procurement Manager collaborates closely with construction, project management and accounting departments to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and company policies. Ultimately, this role drives operational efficiency and supports the successful completion of construction projects by managing the end-to-end procurement lifecycle effectively.

What You'll Do:

Vendor Sourcing & Onboarding:

  • Identify, assess, and onboard reliable, cost-effective third-party service providers across multiple U.S. worksite locations.
  • Monitor the existing vendor database to ensure adequate resources to meet current staffing needs.
  • Recruit potential contractor partners through various methods, including search engines, job boards, referrals, and communication with existing contractors.
  • Prequalify potential contractor partners through verbal conversations, review of scopes of work, and industry knowledge.


Performance Management & Operations:

  • Monitor vendor performance to ensure service excellence, cost efficiency, and timeliness.
  • Conduct reviews, provide feedback, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Update proprietary systems with any contractor, payout, or schedule changes and communicate them to the assigned subcontractor.
  • Keep detailed vendor notes on important conversations, challenges, and changes.
  • Address contractor concerns and complaints.
  • Work closely with Project Management, Construction, Accounting, and Senior Leadership to align vendor services with business objectives


Strategy & Planning:

  • Work with leadership to address market opportunities and issues on weekly calls and as needed.
  • Assist the Accounting Team in obtaining signoffs and invoices from contractors who have late paperwork.
  • Participate in meetings, including daily construction and/or contractor relations calls.


Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in vendor management, subcontractor services, or operations.
  • 3+ years of management experience.
  • Proven track record in managing service-based vendors and negotiating contracts in the U.S. market.
  • Proven experience in developing and managing KPIs to track vendor performance.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with industry experience.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of telecommunications construction and related operations.
  • Advanced skills in Excel and data analysis; familiarity with task management, CRM, construction, and/or vendor management systems is a plus.
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal), organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • High attention to detail with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Able to work independently and under a demanding, fast-paced work environment.
  • Must be a team player with a positive demeanor.
  • Comfortable with frequent phone communication and a variety of verbal discussions and negotiations.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Outlook.
  • The ability to travel occasionally to oversee key vendors and partnerships
