Job description

Field Engineer / Field Technician

Location: Ontario, Canada

We are seeking experienced Field Engineers / Field Technicians with hands-on expertise in 4G RAN deployments to support network implementation, maintenance, and field operations across Ontario. This is an excellent opportunity for independent contractors who thrive in dynamic telecom environments and enjoy working on cutting-edge wireless infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and support  4G RAN equipment at field sites.
  • Perform installation, testing, and troubleshooting of Nokia eNodeB hardware, including AirScale and Flexi BBU/RRU platforms.
  • Install and verify GNSS antennas, SFP modules, router connectivity, and daisy-chain configurations.
  • Support RAN integration by ensuring proper connectivity across S1, X2, IP/MPLS, and O&M interfaces.
  • Execute fiber optic, cabling, grounding, and power-related installation activities following industry best practices.
  • Manage equipment inventory, serial number tracking, and hardware allocation.
  • Coordinate with logistics, procurement, warehouse, and multi-vendor teams to ensure timely material availability.
  • Document site activities, maintenance records, and technical findings accurately.
  • Travel to various gateway locations across Ontario to provide on-site technical support as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven hands-on experience with 4G RAN hardware and field deployments.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Nokia eNodeB (AirScale / Flexi BBU/RRU) platforms
    • SFP modules and router connectivity
    • GNSS antenna installation and daisy-chaining
    • RAN-to-Core interfaces (S1, X2, IP/MPLS, O&M)
    • Fiber optics, cabling, grounding, and power systems
  • Experience with telecom inventory management systems (ERP, warehouse tracking, or similar).
  • Proficiency with Nokia NetAct, BTS Site Manager, or equivalent OSS tools.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and documentation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently at remote sites while collaborating effectively with cross-functional and multi-vendor teams.

Preferred

  • Previous experience supporting wireless network deployment, integration, or field maintenance projects.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout Ontario.
