Job Description

Telecom Construction Manager
Will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of telecom and civil construction projects from planning through completion. This role manages field crews and subcontractors, ensures projects stay on schedule and within budget, maintains project financials, and serves as a primary point of contact for customers and stakeholders. The ideal candidate is highly organized, customer-focused, and capable of managing multiple construction projects while maintaining clear communication with internal teams, field personnel, and clients.

Key Responsibilities

Project & Construction Management

  • Manage all phases of telecom and civil construction projects including planning, scheduling, execution, and closeout.
  • Coordinate construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Oversee site construction including fiber deployment, conduit installation, trenching, boring, handholes, vaults, and related telecom infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, engineering drawings, permits, and local regulations.
  • Identify and resolve construction issues, delays, or field conflicts.

Crew & Field Operations Management

  • Supervise field crews, installers, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Schedule and coordinate field resources to maintain productivity and project timelines.
  • Conduct field visits and site inspections to monitor progress and quality.
  • Ensure adherence to company safety standards and construction best practices.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to construction teams.

Financial & Project Controls

  • Maintain and track project financials, including budgets, cost tracking, and forecasting.
  • Review and approve invoices, change orders, and contractor billing.
  • Monitor project costs and implement corrective actions when needed.
  • Prepare project status reports and updates for management and clients.

Customer & Stakeholder Communication

  • Serve as a customer-facing representative for construction projects.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, municipalities, utilities, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide regular project updates and progress reports.
  • Address customer concerns and resolve issues professionally and efficiently.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate project documentation including schedules, reports, and financial tracking.
  • Use project management and reporting software to track progress and performance.
  • Ensure proper closeout documentation, as-builts, and final project reporting.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • 3โ€“7+ years of telecom construction or utility construction management experience.
  • Experience managing fiber optic, telecom equipment installation, or underground civil construction projects.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and crew management skills.

  • Strong financial and project management abilities.
  • Proficiency in computer systems, spreadsheets, and project management software.
