Their duties include coordinating the installation and maintenance of phone, internet, and communication networks, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring reliable and efficient communication infrastructure. They often work with vendors, handle service contracts, and may assist with budgeting for telecom expenses. Telecom Coordinators also ensure compliance with relevant regulations and help implement new technologies to improve communication systems.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a telecom coordinator?

To thrive as a Telecom Coordinator, you need a solid understanding of telecommunications systems, project management, and network infrastructure, often supported by a relevant degree or experience in IT or telecom. In one sentence
OSP fiber delivery requires coordinated management across multiple markets and jurisdictions, including FTTH/FTTP design, fielding, permitting, TCP/layout, drafting, PLA/QC, submission, as-built and construction handoff activities.
The Project Manager will help maintain project-level visibility, track forecast and actual delivery dates, support issue resolution, and coordinate with customer and internal teams to reduce rework and accelerate construction-readiness.
What will your job look like?
  • Own day-to-day coordination for assigned OSP fiber projects from intake through customer submission and construction-readiness.
  • Manage the delivery flow across SOW/input validation, customer technical discussions, ECD commitment, research, plat/utility requests, fielding, design, permit/TCP/PLA, drafting, QC, submission, as-built and construction handoff.
  • Build and maintain project schedules, forecast dates, milestone status and action trackers; provide weekly updates and support Gantt / dashboard reporting.
  • Drive on-time delivery by anticipating blockers, clarifying inputs and ensuring cross-functional owners are aligned.
  • Serve as a central coordination point between customer stakeholders and delivery, engineering, fielding, drafting, permitting, PMO, finance and vendor teams.
  • Coordinate with construction partners and customer stakeholders on constructability issues such as DA ride, aerial/underground decisions, rear placements, pole attachments, permit requirements and city standards.
  • Run effective project syncs, capture decisions, document action owners and follow through on open items until closure.
  • Support first-time-right quality by ensuring required artifacts, drawings, checklists, permits, evidence and system updates are complete before handoff or submission.
  • Monitor recurring quality issues, redlines, rework causes and jurisdictional feedback; convert findings into corrective actions and lessons learned.
  • Ensure project records are updated in appropriate systems and repositories such as project trackers, design systems, dashboards and document repositories as applicable.
  • Identify risks related to input gaps, permitting delay, city/jurisdiction requirement changes, resource constraints, tool access, vendor readiness or customer decisions.
  • Escalate aging blockers with clear impact, owner, due date and recommended decision path.
  • Prepare concise updates for daily/weekly syncs, steering reviews, business reviews, customer checkpoints and internal leadership updates

All you need is...
  • 10+ years of experience managing outside plant (OSP), fiber engineering or telecom network deployment projects; strong candidates may bring more extensive OSP PM experience.
  • Practical understanding of FTTH/FTTP/FTTx delivery, aerial and underground placement, fielding, design, permitting, drafting, QC, ROW/jurisdiction requirements and construction handoff.
  • Experience coordinating project delivery across customer stakeholders, engineering teams, vendors and construction partners.
  • Working knowledge of telecom design/platform tools and data formats such as IQGeo, SiteTracker, AutoCAD, GIS/ArcGIS/QGIS, Google Earth/KMZ/KML, SharePoint and project trackers.
  • Must have core wireline or Fiber OSP experience.
  • Strong project controls discipline: schedule management, milestone tracking, risk/action logs, status reporting, forecast/actual date management and executive-ready communication.
  • Ability to travel or support market/customer activities as needed and work across U.S. time zones.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to lead calls, document decisions and coordinate across multiple internal and external teams.
  • Prior experience with wireline/fiber operators, utility companies, telecom construction firms or similar infrastructure delivery environments.
  • Experience managing permit packages, pole applications, traffic control plans, municipal submissions, redline correction loops and ROW/utility coordination.
  • Familiarity with Power BI or customer-facing delivery dashboards and using KPI data to drive governance.
  • Experience in U.S. multi-state fiber expansion programs.
  • Telecom construction-readiness experience, including DA rides, constructability reviews and coordination with field/construction teams.

Why you will love this job:

  • You will be able to work with the best and brightest minds to collaborate across accounts/regions to provide a single voice
  • You will have the opportunity to work with the industry most advanced technologies
