Job description

Description Click here to learn more about Tehama County. The Tehama County Environmental Health Department's mission is to protect health, prevent disease and promote a safe environment for all persons in Tehama County. Bilingual Incentive.

Bilingual Incentive Pay is +7.5% above the Code Compliance Coordinator base salary. About the Position: Under the direction of the Environmental Health Director, provides coordination and support duties related to the enforcement of the Tehama County building, planning, zoning and environmental codes. Examples of Duties Prepares legal documents, comprehensive reports, documents and background data to substantiate suspected code violations

Researches records; files and maintains various documents for violation tracking and other projects. Develops procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations related to Code Enforcement. Prepares correspondence and maintains a variety of records; monitors payment of fines imposed and fees due.

Bilingual Candidates: Translate, interpret and otherwise communicate with members of the Spanish speaking community. Click here to view the complete job description. Education, Experience & Licenses Minimum Qualifications: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade Three (3) years of increasingly responsible administrative, legal or advanced secretarial support experience, preferably in a public agency.

Experience performing support work for a regulatory agency responsible for performing inspections or investigations involving enforcement of laws, codes or ordinances related to building, zoning and health and safety rules regulations is highly desired. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered. Bilingual Candidates: Must pass a written and/or oral bilingual proficiency test (or other appropriate test selected by the County) to qualify.

License & Special Requirements: A valid Class C California driver's license or alternative form of transportation may be required for some positions at the time of appointment. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Current, less than 1 year old, typing certificate.

Recruitment Information The department is currently recruiting for one (1) vacancy. In addition, Tehama County is establishing an eligibility list for future vacancies for a Code Compliance Coordinator, as well as vacancies which occur during the life of the eligibility list. New employees should anticipate being hired at the beginning step of the salary range.

Candidates who exceed entry level qualifications may be considered, with approval from the Board of Supervisors, for placement at other than A step.
