Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Weld Leads, the Weld Material Handler is responsible for supporting material handling operations within the weld bay areas. This includes kitting parts for production, completing material flow, and utilizing Epicor ERP to manage transactions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties as management deems necessary.

Material Flow

  • Utilizing a forklift to move jobs into weld and next jobs operation.
  • Take direction from weld leads and/or leaders to complete task list as assigned.
  • Operate overhead crane to move large weldments and miscellaneous materials.

Epicor ERP Utilization

  • Use Epicor to process transactions to kit various jobs on the shop floor.
  • Transact material movement which update statuses to maintain real-time inventory visibility.
  • Follow assigned pick lists for weld operations.
  • Alert leadership when Epicor issues arise.

Inventory & Quality

  • Check through BOM (bill of materials) provided by steel processing/fabrication to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain organized staging areas and ensure materials are labeled and stored properly.

Kitting

  • Kit parts for weld projects based on production schedules and assigned work orders.
  • Ensure all required components are available and staged appropriately for weld teams.
  • Collaborate with weld leads/leadership and other members of the production team to prioritize kitting based on workflow needs.
  • Issuing stock materials to jobs.

Other

  • Work closely with Shipping & Receiving and other departments to ensure smooth material flow.
  • Assist with departmental waste management.
  • Help drive and support BCT’s Culture and Core Values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Forklift experience required.
  • Overhead Crane experience preferred.
  • Experience utilizing a QR code based system
  • Some mechanical aptitude and ability to read technical drawings.
  • Ability to handle a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a deadline-driven environment.

Education and/or Experience

  • Requires High school Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in material handling or warehouse operations, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
