How much do teen prn rn jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 19, 2026, the average hourly pay for teen prn rn in the United States is $36.47, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $29.09 and $42.07 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Teen Prn Rn position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Teen PRN RN (Per Diem Registered Nurse specializing in adolescent care), you need a current RN license, a solid grounding in pediatric or adolescent nursing, and strong clinical assessment skills. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), adolescent behavioral assessment tools, and routine medical equipment is typically required. Exceptional listening, rapport-building, and crisis management skills set standout candidates apart in these roles. These skills are crucial to provide effective, compassionate care and ensure the safety and wellbeing of teenage patients in a flexible, per diem setting.

How to make an extra $2000 a month as a nurse?

Teen PRN RNs can increase their income by taking on additional shifts, working overtime, or offering specialized services such as home health or telehealth. Gaining certifications in high-demand areas like IV therapy or wound care can also command higher pay rates, and flexible scheduling allows for extra hours to reach the $2000 monthly goal.

Can you be a 17 year old nurse?

Teen PRN RNs are typically required to be at least 18 years old to obtain a nursing license and work as a registered nurse. Most states and licensing boards set the minimum age for licensure at 18, and additional requirements include completing an accredited nursing program and passing the NCLEX-RN exam. Therefore, a 17-year-old generally cannot work as a licensed nurse in this role.

What nursing jobs can I do at 16?

Teen Prn Rn is a registered nurse role that typically requires a valid nursing license, which generally cannot be obtained at age 16. At 16, individuals may pursue entry-level healthcare positions such as medical assistants or caregiver roles, but nursing jobs requiring licensure are not available until legal age and proper certification is achieved.

What does a typical shift look like for a Teen PRN RN and how are assignments determined?

As a Teen PRN RN, your shifts can vary based on facility needs and may include evenings, weekends, or holidays, providing flexibility for those seeking non-traditional schedules. Assignments typically involve caring for adolescent patients with a range of medical or behavioral health needs, performing assessments, administering medications, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Because the PRN (as-needed) status means you're not on a fixed schedule, you may be called in to fill staffing gaps or respond to peak census periods. This role offers a dynamic, supportive environment and opportunities to gain diverse experience in adolescent care across different units.

What is a Teen Prn Rn job?

A Teen PRN RN (Teen Per Diem Registered Nurse) is a nurse who works on an as-needed basis, typically in a healthcare setting that serves adolescent patients. This role involves providing medical care, administering treatments, monitoring patient progress, and educating teens about their health. PRN nurses do not have a set schedule but fill in based on the facility's needs. They must have an active RN license and experience working with adolescent patients.

What is the youngest age you can be an RN?

To become a registered nurse (RN), individuals typically must be at least 18 years old, complete a nursing program, and pass the NCLEX-RN exam. There are no provisions for becoming an RN at a younger age, as the role requires legal adult status and professional licensure.
