What does a typical week look like for someone serving as a Teen Church Youth Leader?

A typical week for a Teen Church Youth Leader involves planning and leading youth group meetings, organizing events or service projects, and preparing engaging lesson plans based on scripture or faith-based topics. You'll regularly communicate with parents, collaborate with other church staff, and provide mentorship and spiritual guidance to teenagers. The role often includes administrative responsibilities like coordinating volunteers and managing logistics for activities or retreats. Some weeks may also require additional hours for special events, camps, or outreach programs, making flexibility and time management important. Teen church positions often welcome volunteers or entry-level helpers, so gaining experience by volunteering or assisting with activities can be a good first step. What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

High-paying jobs that can reach this income level without a degree often include sales, real estate, or entrepreneurship, which rely on skills, experience, and performance rather than formal education.

Job description

Description
Join Our Team at Christ Church!
Position: Quest Teens Director (Rockaway Campus)
At Christ Church, every role matters - because every team member matters. When you join our staff, you're not just taking a job; you're stepping into a calling where your work directly impacts the next generation and our mission of "Uniting People to God and People to People."
We're looking for a Quest Teens Director - a dynamic, faith-filled leader who is passionate about equipping middle school and high school students (grades 6-12) to know God, grow as disciples, and live on mission. If you love teaching, discipling, and creating environments where students thrive, this is your chance to shape the future of the Church today.
Why You'll Love Working Here
As the Quest Teens Director, you'll be at the heart of Christ Church's Rockaway Campus student ministry. You'll do more than run programs - you'll invest in lives. Every week, you'll teach, design discipleship experiences, mentor students, empower volunteers, and partner with parents to build a Christ-centered culture where young people can encounter God in powerful, lasting ways.
This role isn't a behind-the-scenes job. It's active, relational, and full of energy. You'll lead retreats, mission trips, and serve days that change lives; partner with schools and community groups to reach new students; and equip teams of adult and student leaders to carry the mission forward. Along the way, you'll ensure every gathering is safe, welcoming, and excellent - creating spaces where students can experience authentic faith and lasting friendships.
Here, your leadership doesn't just run a ministry - it multiplies impact.
• You'll help students discover their identity in Christ and live it out boldly.
• You'll join a collaborative, innovative, and supportive team that values your growth.
• You'll get to do meaningful work in a fun, faith-filled environment where discipleship is central and community is celebrated.
What You'll Do
Lead with vision: Be the spark that sets the tone for Quest Teens! You'll set bold goals, develop teaching series that speak to real life, and build systems that keep the ministry running strong and aligned with Christ Church's mission.
Disciple students: Step into the lives of teens with messages that are biblically solid, culturally relevant, and unforgettable. From weekly gatherings to retreats, camps, and missions, you'll create spaces where students encounter Jesus in life-changing ways.
Plan unforgettable events: Think epic retreats, high-energy conferences, and mission trips that ignite faith and create lasting memories. You'll make sure every detail - from logistics to budgets - is handled with excellence so students can focus on what matters most.
Develop leaders: You won't do this alone - you'll raise up an army of passionate adult leaders and student leaders, equipping them to step into their God-given gifts and lead with confidence.
Keep things running smoothly: Behind the scenes, you'll steward budgets, track wins, and keep logistics on point so the ministry can grow wider, deeper, and stronger.
Partner with families & schools: You'll champion parents with resources and encouragement, and you'll take Christ Church into schools, clubs, and campus ministries so students know we're with them wherever they are.
Ensure safety & care: Most of all, you'll create a safe, welcoming environment where every student feels seen, valued, and loved - and where leaders are equipped to respond with wisdom, compassion, and courage.
Why This Role Matters
Every student who walks through our doors is a story in progress - and your leadership helps shape their story with hope. From sermons and small groups to camps and missions, you'll create spaces where students can encounter Christ, grow in discipleship, and step into their God-given purpose. The way you teach, organize, and invest in others won't just impact students today - it will ripple into eternity.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a visionary leader and gifted communicator who thrives in a fast-paced, relational, and faith-filled environment. You bring passion for Jesus and students, organizational excellence, and the ability to mentor leaders while staying grounded in Christ-like humility.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required (Master's in Ministry/Theology, Education, or Nonprofit Leadership a plus)
• 3-5 years of student ministry or program leadership experience (multi-site/large church preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other Characteristics: (UPDATED)
Biblical Communication: You're a skilled teacher and communicator who can make biblical truth both faithful and relevant to today's culture.
Leadership & Development: You have a proven ability to recruit, equip, and care for volunteers, fostering growth and ownership in ministry.
Relational Strength: You build genuine connections with teens, parents, and leaders through empathy, clarity, and approachability.
Strategic Thinking: You bring vision and structure to ministry planning, with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Discipleship & Mentorship: You understand how to develop student leaders, guide faith formation, and provide pastoral care in practical ways.
Flexibility & Presence: You're adaptable and ready to serve during evenings, weekends, and special events as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Formal theological training in Bible, youth ministry, or Christian education
• Track record of growing a student ministry across multiple campuses or schools
• Experience planning retreats, trips, and service projects
• Bilingual and/or cross-cultural ministry experience
What We Offer
We believe serving God and others should be both meaningful and rewarding. That's why we offer:
• Medical, dental, and vision insurance
• 403(b) retirement plan with company match
• Company-paid life and accidental insurance
• Generous paid time off to rest and recharge
• Fringe benefits that make life easier
• A supportive, faith-filled work environment where your ministry thrives
Ready to Join the Team?
If you're looking for more than a job - if you're passionate about students, discipleship, and building a ministry that changes lives - this is your place.
Apply today and step into a role where your leadership fuels life-changing ministry for the next generation.
