POSITION SPECIFICS
Title: MRI Technologist
FTE: Per Diem

POSITION SUMMARY
The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist performs MR procedures at a technical level that does not require constant supervision but does require good judgment. Operates MRI equipment using ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed protocols to assist diagnosis of disease and injury. Assumes responsibility for coordinating procedures, quality assurance and record keeping as related to departmental policy, MR safety and attending to the patient's needs..
POSITION TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform all MRI procedures using complex, specialized MRI equipment. Receive, position and attend to patients. Abstract pertinent data from patient or family and/or patient record. Educate patient and/or family and answers any questions on the MR procedure being performed. Completes Patient Screening form and insures accuracy of the form. Transport patients to and from the MR unit. Understand the principles of MR physics and maintains both patient and operator safety. Inject contrast media in accordance with established protocol. Keep equipment in working order; recognizes equipment malfunction and reports appropriate information to department director. Work closely with the Radiologist both per and post procedure to insure exam quality and completeness. Maintain strict patient confidentiality. Complete post procedure requirements and enters necessary data in Hospital Information System. Train other radiology staff members to become competent in MRI physics and scanning principles. Maintain required Continuing Education Credits as required by the ARRT. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education:
  • Required: Diploma from a two year program in Science of Radiographic Technology from an accredited technical college or hospital-based program
  • Preferred: None

Experience:
  • Required: 1 year experience in MRI
  • Preferred: None

Licenses and Registrations:
  • Required: Licensed by the State of Wisconsin to provide medical radiographic services. Registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) in Radiology
  • Preferred: Registered in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is highly desirable.

Certification(s):
  • Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 6 months of hire
  • Preferred: None
