Job Title: Program Director, School of Radiologic Technology (Radiography)
Job Description

The Radiography Program Director leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of the School of Radiologic Technology curriculum, while providing high-quality instruction and assessing student performance. As a key member of the management team, this role oversees program operations, budgeting, and policy enforcement to ensure consistent quality of service and continuous improvement. The director collaborates closely with the partnering community college to support effective program administration and fosters strong relationships with staff, clinical preceptors, affiliates, and the broader health system. This position requires independent judgment, strong leadership, and expertise in system analysis, design, training, and process enhancement to advance an excellent radiography education program.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the School of Radiologic Technology curriculum to ensure it meets educational and accreditation standards.
  • Provide classroom and clinical instruction in radiography, including X-ray and radiologic technology content, and assess student performance using clear, objective criteria.
  • Oversee program budgeting and resource allocation to support high-quality instruction, clinical experiences, and student success.
  • Enforce institutional and program policies and procedures to maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Ensure the quality of educational services and drive continuous improvement through data collection, analysis, and implementation of program enhancements.
  • Collaborate closely with the partner community college coordinator to support effective program administration, alignment of academic standards, and smooth student progression.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with staff, clinical preceptors, affiliates, and the broader health system to support robust clinical education experiences.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and support to students, instructors, clinical staff, and college faculty, fostering a positive and professional learning environment.
  • Develop strategic plans for the radiography program and successfully orchestrate projects and timelines to achieve program goals.
  • Facilitate teams and manage change initiatives to improve educational processes, clinical coordination, and overall program effectiveness.
  • Design, implement, and refine systems and processes related to curriculum, assessment, and clinical education, including training for faculty and clinical instructors.
  • Coach students and instructors toward academic and clinical success, providing guidance, feedback, and support for continuous development.
  • Use organizational and analytical skills to evaluate program outcomes, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement evidence-based solutions.
  • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally with students, faculty, clinical partners, and leadership to ensure clarity, alignment, and collaboration.
  • Exercise independent judgment while maintaining a strong team orientation, balancing autonomy with collaborative decision-making.
Essential Skills
  • Master's degree with a minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience as a radiographic instructor and/or Program Director in a JRCERT-accredited program.
  • Credentialing in Radiography by the ARRT in good standing.
  • Eligibility for a Connecticut state radiographer license.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in clinical instruction and evaluation skills in radiography.
  • Proven ability to develop curriculum for radiologic technology or radiography programs.
  • Experience coaching students and instructors to achieve academic and clinical success.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to facilitate teams and effectively manage and implement change within an educational or clinical environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing strategic plans and successfully orchestrating projects and timelines.
  • Ability to manage and motivate students, instructors, clinical staff, and college faculty in a positive and professional manner.
  • Ability to interact effectively and positively with all levels of healthcare workers and guests.
  • Demonstrated ability to collect and analyze data and use findings to make program improvements.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to function independently while providing leadership and direction to a wide variety of students, instructors, and employees.
  • Strong team orientation with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and organizations.
  • Leadership experience in radiology or radiography education, including familiarity with X-ray and radiologic technology practice.

  • Experience working within a JRCERT-accredited radiography program, with familiarity in maintaining accreditation standards and documentation.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, weekday position with a typical schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The role is based in an academic and clinical education environment that includes classroom, office, and healthcare settings associated with radiography and X-ray services. The work involves regular interaction with students, faculty, clinical preceptors, and healthcare professionals across the health system.
