WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR: IT Manager (full time - on site)


Position Overview

Reporting to the Senior Director IT, the IT Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the technology infrastructure that supports Acuitas's operations. This includes the maintenance of hardware, software, networks, databases, and communication systems for office, laboratory, and remote based employees; ensuring that these systems are secure, efficient, and capable of supporting business objectives.

The position holder Identifies, prioritizes and resolves reported problems utilizing internal employees and outsourced service providers, providing first class IT support to all Acuitas teams and employees.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Infrastructure Management

  • Hardware Management to include servers, workstations, storage devices, and work with scientific instrument providers as necessary
  • Networking Management including routers, switches, firewalls, and data transmission infrastructure
  • Managing Operating systems, middleware, cloud services (Azure), and virtual networks
  • Data backup, disaster recovery, and storage systems
  • Endpoint protection, vulnerability assessment, and firewall management
  • Monitoring, incident resolution, performance tuning, and asset lifecycle management

Systems Maintenance and Development

  • Fixing errors, bugs, and issues in system set-up and configuration
  • Updating systems to work in new environments (e.g., new OS, browsers, and hardware)
  • Taking proactive measures to prevent future failures, including security patching
  • Maintaining firewalls, managing user access, and ensuring compliance with standards

Data Management and Security

  • Protecting data from unauthorized access via encryption, firewalls, and access control lists
  • Managing data from ingestion/creation through storage (databases, data lakes) to safe disposal or archival
  • Active monitoring, identification, and mitigation of cybersecurity risks (phishing, ransomware) and insider threat
  • Securing hardware, cloud systems, and physical premises

Technical Support

  • Diagnosing and fixing hardware, software, and network problems to minimize disruptions and keep systems fully operational
  • Set up and configure new hardware and software, including testing compatibility with existing systems
  • Assisting users with understanding and using technology effectively
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks (such as software updates, hardware upgrades, and network monitoring) to preventissues before they arise
  • Updating IT Knowledge Base through keeping detailed records of technical issues, and solutions provided, ensuring consistent support and communication with other teams and IT partners
  • Make the most of being in a prime position to work with users to identify recurring issues so that information can be shared with colleagues and vendors for continuous improvement

  • 5 years hands-on experience of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem

COMPENSATION

$110,000 - $145,000 CAD per annum.
