Position Overview

The Innovation Lab and Technology Integration Specialist is primarily responsible for collaborating with grade level faculty to meaningfully integrate technology (from computers and iPads to low- and high-tech equipment and machinery in the innovation lab) with the curriculum, as well as providing instruction and support for students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 8.


Essential Duties

  • Collaborates with classroom teachers for instructional planning, co-teaching, and modeling strategies for effectively integrating technology into teaching and learning.
  • Integrates technology standards with the grade level curriculum.
  • Collaborates with instructional teams on technology integration with the grade level inquiry-based curriculum.
  • Identifies technology integration goals and priorities in collaboration with leadership, and delivers appropriate coaching, training, and resources.
  • Research new technology integration techniques and resources in order to integrate with grade level curriculum.
  • Maintains a current knowledge of effective instructional and coaching pedagogies.
  • Accommodates learner variability using technology apps and tools as well as general classroom accommodations.
  • Providing inspiration and support for faculty and students in the Walder Innovation Lab by developing and implementing innovative learning opportunities in conjunction with grade level curriculum.
  • Plan, develop, and evaluate lessons for computer, keyboard, and internet skills for students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 8 while integrating the core content objectives into lessons.
  • Facilitate learning with technology to support student achievement of the ISTE Standards for Students.
  • Promote a positive learning environment that includes behavioral management techniques appropriate to the needs of all students.
  • Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity while assisting students in connecting to technological principles in the real world.
  • Be aware of and monitor internet usage for students as outlined by school policy.
  • Teach internet safety and Digital Citizenship, including personal responsibility for technology use and responsible use of technology
  • Perform duties assigned by the administration in accordance with school policies, practices, and procedures.


Qualifications

  • A Bachelors degree (a Masters degree is desirable).
  • An understanding of appropriate uses of technology in the educational setting.
  • Competency with Mac and Windows computers and software, in particular Microsoft Office and Google Workspace (formerly G-Suite, Google Apps).
  • Competency in iPadOS software, functionality, and iPad management.
  • Competency in ChromeOS software, functionality, and Chromebook management.
  • Current knowledge of and/or strong comfort in learning the proper usage of available and emerging technologies.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with faculty regarding technology use in both oral and written form.
  • Knowledge of sound teaching strategies.
