Job description

STAR Long Term Care Pharmacy is a closed door pharmacy located in El Cajon, CA. We currently service Skilled nursing facilities. We are seeking an energetic pharmacist in charge OR staff Pharmacist to join our team. RPH must have experience in LTC Pharmacy. RPH will be required to run the day to day operations and perform the duties of a PIC as per requirements of the BOP. We are looking for a Pharmacist with a flexible schedule and whom is eager to work in a small family environment. We offer competitive wages as well as benefits. Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the accurate preparation of medications for final dispensing to the patient, including order entry, filling, and toting.
  • Review filled blister cards and unit dose strips to ensure prescriptions are filled correctly.
  • Verify the legality and pharmaceutical feasibility of dispensing a drug based on patients' allergies, drug interactions, frequency of refills, etc.
  • Interpret prescription orders and exercise professional judgment in determining whether to dispense a particular prescription.
  • Transfer prescriptions to and from other pharmacies as needed.
  • Answer questions from patients, doctors, nurses, etc.
  • Oversee technicians in Compounding IV's.
  • Dose IV medications per patient specific data.
Requirements: Must be licensed and in good standing in the state of CA
  • Excellent Computer skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to problem solve, make decisions in a fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines
  • Software experience preferred yet not required (Framework, DocuTrack)
  • Prior pharmacy experience preferred
