Location: Grand Junction, Colorado (onsite, office space available)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, typically 8:30 AM–5:00 PM

Role Overview

The Pharmacist in Charge is responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of a retail pharmacy, including preparing and dispensing medications, overseeing pharmacy technicians, and managing day-to-day pharmacy activities. This role requires strong clinical judgment, leadership, and operational oversight in a high-responsibility environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and execute provider prescriptions, verifying appropriateness and legality.

  • Organize the pharmacy for efficient product identification, workflow, and dispensing.

  • Maintain full control over medication inventory, including stocking, labeling, and monitoring for expiry or deterioration.

  • Counsel patients, interpret their needs, and provide medication information and advice.

  • Prepare and dispense medications using correct dosages, materials, and documentation for each patient.

  • Maintain accurate patient profiles and medication histories.

  • Stay current with HIPAA and Fraud, Waste & Abuse requirements and credentialing.

  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local pharmacy laws and regulations.

  • Ensure adherence to internal facility policies and procedures.

  • Direct daily work of pharmacy technicians, including performance input and escalation of behavioral/performance issues to senior management.

  • Manage pharmacy technician schedules and coordinate leave/coverage with senior management.

  • Perform other pharmacy-related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD).

  • Licensure: Active pharmacist license in the relevant state (per job requirements).

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 3–5 years of retail pharmacy management experience.

    • Prior leadership experience in a retail/community pharmacy setting strongly preferred.

  • Technical: Ability to utilize a patient/pharmacy management system and related pharmacy software.

  • Soft Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and management skills; professional, detail‑oriented, and customer‑focused.
