Business Operations Department

As a part of the Vantage Operations team, the Business Operations department is responsible for ensuring standards and process adherence for operation performance, maintaining customer leases, producing monthly customer utility bills, generating regular reports, and supporting Operational Effectiveness. The Business Operations department also works closely with all Vantage departments to ensure customer success from the construction process through daily operations and delivery activities.

Position Overview

This role is based in Montreal, QC (Pointe Claire / Saint-Laurent). In alignment with our flexible work policy (3 days on site required, 2 days flexible)

The Bilingual Technical Writer is responsible for creating, editing, translating, and maintaining high-quality documentation for an operations focused team. This role requires excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and French and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. The Technical Writer works closely with stakeholders at all levels to develop user manuals, technical guides, process documentation, training materials, process mapping, and other deliverables that support departmental objectives. This role ensures all documentation is clear, accurate, consistent, and aligned with organizational standards and documentation guidelines.

Essential Job Functions

Documentation & Content Design:

  • Create, edit, and maintain a wide range of documentation, including user manuals, technical guides, process documentation, training materials, SharePoint pages, and other operational deliverables.

  • Ensure all content is clear, concise, consistent, and user-focused, with a high standard of quality and style.

  • Ensure documentation is professional, visually appealing, well-formatted, and easy to navigate for end users.

  • Develop documentation in alignment with established templates, documentation standards, and style guides.

  • Translate documentation between English and French, as required.

  • Develop process maps, workflows, system diagrams, and architecture visuals using tools such as Visio.

Collaboration:

  • Work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple documentation efforts in parallel.

  • Partner closely with program managers, project managers, subject matter experts (SMEs), and other stakeholders to gather requirements and source accurate information.

  • Conduct interviews and working sessions with SMEs to translate complex concepts into clear, usable documentation.

  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders at various organizational levels.

Quality Assurance:

  • Review and edit documentation to ensure it meets organizational standards for quality and consistency.

  • Implement feedback from stakeholders to improve documentation.

  • Assess documentation usability through UAT to ensure process instructions are clear, actionable, and easily followed by intended users

Process Improvement:

  • Contribute to enhancing documentation processes, tools, and content management practices on an ongoing basis.

  • Stay current with industry best practices in technical writing, content design, and documentation governance, and apply them where appropriate.

  • Continuously refine documentation practices and apply new techniques to improve the clarity, usability, and efficiency of process content.

Content Management:

  • Organize, manage, and maintain documentation within centralized repositories.

  • Ensure documentation remains current, accessible, and well-structured for stakeholders.

  • Ensure all content intended for Quebec operations teams is accurately translated into French.

Additional Duties

Handle additional duties as assigned by management.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Information Technology, a related field or relevant technical experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical writing, preferably in a business operation, program management or a fast-paced operational environment.

  • Demonstrated experience producing and maintaining diverse forms of technical and operational process documentation.

  • Experience working with operational systems such as EQMS, ERP, CMMS platforms, or documenting data center operations, compliance-driven environments, and documentation best practices is considered an asset.

  • Experience supporting operational processes such as change management, incident management, and other business or workflow procedures is considered an asset.

Skills:

  • Full bilingual proficiency required in English and French for written and verbal communication.

  • Ability to work quickly, independently, and effectively in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.

  • Strong attention to detail, consistency, and documentation style.

  • Proficiency with documentation and editing tools, including Microsoft Word, Visio, SharePoint, content management systems, and other design tools.

  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software, tools, and systems.

  • Strong organizational, time-management and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
