Job Summary

The Technical Marketing Lead is an entrepreneurial, high-growth role designed for a technically minded communicator who can translate complex engineering and scientific concepts into compelling customer-facing content. This role represents the voice of the company through brand identity and storytelling. This individual will own the development and maintenance of Canopy Aerospace & Defense's external communication platforms, helping strengthen the company's brand, market presence, and customer engagement across digital and physical channels. This will require a deep understanding of company operations, product segments, the customer’s voice, and all industries we have exposure to. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive expertise across the defense industrial base, demonstrating a deep understanding of supply chains ranging from maritime naval assets and munition systems to space launch technologies. This role will be a cross-functional role and require coordination across C-suite, Presidents, Product Managers, Engineers, and Business Development (Growth Team).

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, edit, and publish technical and analytical content, including white papers, capability statements, data sheets, case studies, customer success stories, website content, social media content, and executive communications.
  • Create customer-facing marketing materials, presentations, capability briefs, trade show collateral, and branded content that effectively communicate complex technical concepts.
  • Design visual content using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, AI-assisted tools, and other graphic design platforms to support business development, proposals, recruiting, and corporate communications.
  • Maintain and continuously improve company websites, digital content, messaging, and brand consistency across all channels.
  • Conduct market, customer, industry, and competitor research to support strategic marketing initiatives and growth planning.
  • Coordinate company participation in conferences, trade shows, customer demonstrations, and industry events, including logistics, materials, and follow-up communications.
  • Support internal communications initiatives, employee spotlights, company announcements, recruiting campaigns, and branded merchandise programs.
  • Build, organize, and maintain a centralized library of marketing, branding, technical communication, and business development materials.
  • Monitor marketing performance metrics, website analytics, and content engagement to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, business development, and leadership teams to translate technical capabilities into compelling customer-focused messaging.
  • Support proposal, capture, and strategic growth efforts through content development, graphics, and market intelligence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of professional experience or equivalent internship experience in marketing, communications, technical writing, content development, or related disciplines.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  • Strong technical writing, analytical writing, and content creation capabilities, with a portfolio of work samples.
  • Proficiency with graphic design and content creation tools such as Canva, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Creative Suite, and AI-assisted content platforms.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and project management abilities.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of executing in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, engineering, or advanced materials industries.
  • Familiarity with website management platforms such as WordPress, Webflow, or similar CMS tools. We use Webflow.
  • Experience managing digital content, corporate websites, and social media platforms such as Linkedin.
  • Experience supporting trade shows, conferences, customer events, or marketing campaigns.
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial initiative, leadership experience, personal projects, or creative pursuits.
  • Basic understanding of technical products, manufacturing processes, or government contracting environments.
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to work in office, lab, and manufacturing environments with occasional exposure to noise, dust, and temperature variations.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 35 lb and perform tasks involving standing, walking, bending, and manual assembly.
  • Visual acuity required for reading technical drawings, inspecting components, and operating precision instruments.
  • Occasional travel to customer or test sites, including outdoor or industrial settings, with adherence to company and OSHA safety protocols
