Who We’re Looking For:       
The Engineering Intern is responsible for various engineering activities in support of new product development projects and manufacturing optimization as necessary. This includes a wide variety of responsibilities including general engineering, operations and continuous improvement tasks. This is an internship position.     
        
About the Role:       
  • Perform inspections and/or QC of supplier products (raw materials, subassemblies and finished goods) based on approved specifications, work instructions or procedures to meet Laborie's requirements and quality standards. 
  • Gather and analyze "voice of customer" data and integrate customer feedback into product requirements and specifications.
  • Contribute to brainstorming sessions.
  • SAP Manufacturing Optimization, e.g. routings, time studies, BOMs, data configuration.
  • Maple Grove Manufacturing Line optimization (layouts, new workstations, ergonomics, warehouse/kitting/shipping flow, Tier boards).
    • General CI projects to support ME & Operations teams
  • Create parts, assemblies, and drawings in SolidWorks.
  • Generate reports to document test findings.
Minimum Qualifications:       
  • Pursuing BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Available to work full-time in-person throughout the summer (minimum of 8 weeks) in Minneapolis, MN area.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with 3D CAD software, SolidWorks preferred
  • Passion for developing medical technology solutions that address unmet clinical needs and eagerness to learn
  • Excellent communication skills, including technical writing
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Technical aptitude, "hands on" approach to engineering
  • Experience with medical device design, prototyping, and testing
  • Ability to communicate and work with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Ability to work on multiple project concurrently
  • Experience presenting technical information
  • Excellent organization, time management, and ability to work toward tight deadlines
