Position Overview
The Associate Technical Specialist supports laboratory and application-based technical service activities within H.B. Fuller's Advanced Building Solutions business, with a primary focus on glass applications. This role performs supervised testing, sample preparation, and customer-support activities while developing practical skills in materials, adhesives, and processes. The position provides hands-on experience with clear ownership of assigned technical requests and opportunities for continued technical growth.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Support construction and testing of insulating glass units (IGUs) and laminated assemblies
  • Perform physical property and compatibility testing per defined procedures
  • Execute application and laboratory test plans to support characterization and root cause analysis
  • Prepare, ship, and track samples, IGUs, and supplies to and from the Center of Excellence
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and product inventory
  • Document test results and communicate updates to internal and external stakeholders
  • Support customer trials, demonstrations, and onsite visits
  • Assist with 5S, safety, equipment maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives

Minimum Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma with 4+ years of relevant experience, or an associate or bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Experience: Hands-on laboratory, manufacturing, or technical support experience
  • Skills: Ability to follow written procedures and accurately document results
  • Skills: Clear verbal and written communication with technical and non-technical partners
  • Work Authorization: Authorization to work in the country of employment

Preferred Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
  • Experience: 1+ year supporting adhesives, glass, composites, or industrial substrates
  • Skills: Experience with physical property testing and laboratory equipment
  • Experience: Exposure to customer-facing technical or application support work

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.
The salary for this role is $65,000-$84,000.
