Trane Technologiesis currently seeking a Unit Controls Technical Lead professional to join our Trane team in Clarksville, TN. This team is creating the next generation, industry leading HVAC equipment controls. Our customers know Trane's reputation for delivering industry-leading, energy-efficient and reliable solutions to minimize operating costs while reducing environmental impact to the world.

What you will do:

The Unit Controls Technical Lead will be responsible for leading the functional product development to create new or enhanced HVAC controls products/features. This role will be responsible for:

  • Ensures that technical and regulatory objectives are met through our new product/technology development process. Designs and evaluates new and/or existing engineering products by cohesively working with Equipment Mechanical Engineers.

  • Generates functional specifications for software engineers to ensure the design intent is implemented. Confers withmanagement, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.

  • Serve as the controls technical engineering core team member on cross functional projects. Creates product definition relating to technical requirements by leading technical design.

  • Working knowledge of control systems, instrumentation, HMI, communication networks, and distributed networked systems. Knowledge of various communication protocols and the various architectures and topologies associated with them.

  • Experience with requirements management tools. Utilize effective communication and facilitation skills both, inside and outside of the development team.

  • Follows established new product development procedures and guidelines to leverage shared organizational knowledge and experience.

  • Ability to meet short- and long-term deadlines. Effectively meet the needs of internal and external customers. Demonstrated leadership and teaming skills especially with geographically dispersed teams.

  • Works effectively in an open, consensus-oriented, team environment. Results-oriented with an emphasis on achieving team performance.

  • Demonstrate ability to cope with stress and maintain a pleasant and cooperative temperament with internal and external customers and colleagues.

  • Demonstrate ability to perform mental tasks such as making decisions, learning, thinking rationally and exercising good judgment.

What you will bring:

  • BS or MS degree in Engineering discipline.

  • 5+ years of Project Management experience in supporting engineering product development.

  • Experience leading or involvement in an embedded software project or enterprise software development project.

  • Reliable planner with good attention to detail.

  • Strong leadership along with good verbal English, technical written English and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Knowledge of HVAC Systems and Components.

  • Knowledge of DFSS techniques.

  • INCOSE Certification is a plus.

Annual Base Salary Range or Hourly Base Pay Range:

$89,585.00 - $124,950.00
