Job description

Responsibilities

The IT Business Administrator and Technical Support Specialist will provide direct support to the NSWCCD Detachment Puget Sound in Silverdale, WA (approximately 120 staff) and remote support to the Acoustic Research Detachment in Bayview, ID (approximately 50 staff). The role spans two primary areas:

  • Administration of IT assets, user accounts, and access requirements for incoming and departing personnel.
  • Technical and cybersecurity support services across multiple networks, including NMCI NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and unclassified RDT&E environments.
  • IT Business Administration Duties Manage the full lifecycle of government IT assets, including acquisition, issuance, inventory tracking, maintenance coordination, and endoflife disposition for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and accessories. Process activation, modification, and deactivation of classified and unclassified user accounts, including oversight of SIPRNet token issuance, tracking, and collection. Fulfill shared drive access requests and ensure proper documentation and authorization. Coordinate IT actions and service needs with the NMCI Help Desk and NSWCCD Code 70 IT team on a regular (typically weekly) basis to support ongoing operational requirements.

    Technical and Cybersecurity Support Duties Review and validate system access eligibility through System Authorization Access Request - Navy (SAARN) forms and related documentation. Provide troubleshooting support for desktop and mobile devices, peripheral equipment, network connectivity, and userreported issues across all supported networks. Serve as the detachment Information System Security Officer (ISSO), contributing to the cybersecurity posture of local systems through tasks such as STIGrelated configuration checks, vulnerability scans, patch verification, and documentation updates. Configure and deploy new computer workstations, user accounts, and mobile devices in accordance with applicable Navy and DoD cybersecurity standards, including installation of required encryption tools, authentication certificates, and baseline security configurations. Assist with periodic system updates, change tracking, and compliance activities to ensure alignment with Navy cybersecurity requirements and continuous monitoring objectives.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    High School degree and 6+ years of experience, Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field and 4+ years of experience, BS degree in IT management, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field and 3+ years of experience.

    Qualifications:

    Minimum of three years of experience providing IT administration and technical support within DoD or    Department of the Navy environments, including both workstation and mobile device support. CompTIA Security+ CE certification required. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required for         clearance eligibility. Candidates with an active Secret clearance are strongly preferred. Demonstrated customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally and effectively with     users at all levels, both in person and through phone and email. Proven attention to detail, accuracy in documentation, and reliability in managing IT assets and user   access requirements. Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly convey technical information and support actions. Experience with basic network troubleshooting; familiarity with network switch configuration is     desirable.Peraton Overview

    Target Salary Range$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
