Job description

Company Overview

Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. At Joby, we've been working to make that dream a reality since 2009 and we're now in the final stages of certifying our aircraft with the FAA. With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.

Overview

As our Engineering Stores Specialist, you'll be the operational backbone behind some of our most exciting early-stage projects, making sure the right tools and materials are where they need to be, when they need to be there. With sites across the Santa Cruz area, no two days look the same.

Responsibilities
  • Managing a fast-moving technical stores function in support of active R&D programs

  • Operating across multiple sites in and around Santa Cruz, ensuring each location is properly supported

  • Assisting with possible procurement of prototype components, materials, and tooling at pace, often to short notice engineer requests, including communicating directly with suppliers

  • Managing consumables accurately across a wide and frequently evolving range of engineering stores

  • Working closely with design engineers to anticipate material needs as projects evolve from concept to prototype

  • Coordinating for build events and pre-production trials while continuously improving stores processes to keep pace with growing, fast-moving programs

Required
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 5 years of similiar or relevant experience related to the job duties
  • Experience in an engineering store, or technical supply function

  • Competent with standard computer applications including email, spreadsheets, and stock management or ERP systems

  • Flexibility to work across multiple sites in the Santa Cruz area as the business requires

  • Comfortable operating in a fluid, prototype-stage environment where requirements change frequently

  • Strong organizational skills and a methodical approach to materials control

  • Ability to read basic engineering documentation (drawings, BOMs, specs)

  • Excellent communication with engineering and procurement teams

  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset

  • Able to meet the physical demands of the role including regular heavy lifting, manual handling, and operation of forklift and other material handling equipment

Desired
  • Exposure to early-stage development programs

  • Experience with typical warehousing software and functions

  • Background in electronics, mechanical, or aerospace/defense environments

  • Experience supporting pre-production builds or pilot runs
