Technical Solution Manager information

What is a technical solution manager?

A Technical Solution Manager is a professional responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and management of technical solutions to meet the needs of clients or organizations. They act as a bridge between the technical team and the client, ensuring that solutions are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the specified requirements. Technical Solution Managers often coordinate resources, manage project timelines, and provide technical expertise to deliver successful outcomes. Their role involves both technical knowledge and strong communication skills to translate business needs into effective technical strategies.

How does a technical solution manager typically collaborate with technical teams and clients during project delivery?

A Technical Solution Manager acts as a key liaison between technical teams—such as engineers and developers—and clients to ensure project requirements are understood and met. They facilitate clear communication, translate client needs into actionable technical tasks, and oversee the solution’s implementation. Regular meetings, status updates, and documentation are essential, as is the ability to address challenges or changes quickly to keep projects on track. This collaborative approach helps ensure solutions are both technically sound and aligned with client expectations.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a technical solution manager?

To thrive as a Technical Solution Manager, you need a solid background in IT systems, solution architecture, and project management, typically supported by a relevant degree and experience in technology implementation. Familiarity with tools such as CRM platforms, cloud services (like AWS or Azure), and certifications like PMP or ITIL are commonly required. Outstanding communication, problem-solving abilities, and stakeholder management skills help differentiate top performers in this role. These competencies are crucial for aligning technical solutions with business needs, ensuring successful project delivery, and building strong client relationships.

As a Technical Solution Lead, Marketing Activation, you'll lead the technical solution design and implementation required to bring new omnichannel journeys to life. You'll partner closely with Product Managers and line of business teams to shape journey requirements, assess communication channels, define targeting and offer constructs, and identify the technology and data components needed for delivery. Working across Technology, Data Science, Digital Platforms, Quality Assurance, and development teams, you'll create end-to-end technical roadmaps and ensure solution components are integrated effectively. • Build and implement client journeys - Oversee journey creation, tactic implementation, and data integration across marketing technology platforms, ensuring each build aligns with the overall solution design and client experience goals.

  • Coordinate pilots and releases - Plan and execute business pilots for new journeys by developing test cases, coordinating user communications, gathering feedback, and supporting issue resolution to enable successful launches and releases.

  • Monitor and optimize performance - Track in-market journeys, analyze reports and dashboards, identify issues that may impact client experience or key performance indicators, and recommend improvements based on results and insights.

  • Drive stakeholder alignment - Act as a central point of contact across partner teams, communicate progress and dependencies clearly, and help ensure delivery stays on track across upstream and downstream workstreams.

  • Strengthen project discipline - Support risk and issue management, quality assurance, and documentation practices by maintaining accurate project materials and contributing to continuous improvement within Technology Operations project management practices.
