The Technical Service Scientist supports the ADTS lab for Tissue and Textiles in the Americas, providing hands-on laboratory support for new product development, product portfolio optimization, plant support, and technical service activities

This role plays a key part in formulation development, application testing, and analytical evaluation of products serving the tissue and textile markets. The position partners closely with regional and global technical teams to deliver high-quality data, technical insights, and customer-focused solutions. Strong laboratory execution, organization, and communication skills are essential for success.

This position is based onsite in Richmond, VA. A future relocation to Allentown, PA within approximately 6 months to 2 years of starting in the role is required. Candidates must be willing to relocate as a condition of employment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carry out lab work necessary for new product development, product portfolio support, plant support, processes, and technical service for the tissue and textile market.

  • Plan, prepare, and perform tests, formulations, and experiments following established or newly developed procedures, modifying methods as needed to optimize performance.

  • Conduct application or analytical evaluation of existing, developmental, and competitive products and technologies.

  • Evaluate and document test results; prepare status and study reports; maintain electronic documentation.

  • Develop and optimize application and analytical test methods and support the technical service lab.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment, including proper handling of equipment, chemicals, and MSDS documentation.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Biology, or another STEM-related field

  • Laboratory experience in synthesis, formulation, application testing, development, or production

  • Ability to plan and execute experiments using established procedures and adapt methods as needed

  • Experience evaluating and documenting test results, including report writing and maintaining electronic records

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to maintain a safe, clean, and compliant laboratory environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in tissue, paper, or textile development

  • Industry experience within specialty chemicals or related technical segments

  • Experience developing or optimizing application or analytical test methods

Additional Requirements

  • Must be willing to work onsite in Richmond, VA initially

  • Must be willing to relocate to Allentown, PA within approximately 6 months - 2 years based on business needs
