Summary

The Manager - Aviation Technical Services, is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational oversight, and regulatory compliance of the company's specialized technical service programs across its national and international network. This includes oversight of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) services, In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC) support (Intelsat/Viasat), FedEx line maintenance support operations in Casper, Wyoming, aircraft potable water sampling programs, and other specialized technical services.

The Manager will ensure these technical service lines operate safely, efficiently, and profitably while maintaining full compliance with Transport Canada, FAA, customer, and OEM requirements. The position is responsible for standardizing processes across multiple locations, managing technical personnel and subcontractors, developing new service offerings, and supporting business growth.

This role serves as the company's subject matter expert for specialized technical services and works closely with Maintenance Operations, Quality Assurance, Airworthiness, Maintenance Control, Procurement, Sales, and customers to deliver high-quality maintenance support.

Responsibilities
  • Operational Leadership
    • Lead all Aviation Technical Services operations across the company's network.
    • Develop standardized procedures and best practices for specialized maintenance services.
    • Ensure safe, efficient, and consistent service delivery across all locations.
    • Monitor operational performance (KPI's dashboard) and resource utilization.
    • Support expansion of technical service capabilities into new locations and customer markets.
  • Technical Program Development
    • Together with the Head of Maintenance and the Sales team, identify opportunities to expand technical service capabilities through:
      • New customer offerings.
      • Emerging technologies.
      • OEM partnerships.
      • Additional certifications.
      • Technical training.
      • Equipment investments.
      • Process improvements.
      • Support strategic growth initiatives.
  • Safety Management System (SMS)
    • Promote a proactive safety culture by:
      • Supporting hazard identification.

      • Participating in Health & Safety meetings.
      • Supporting Management of Change activities.

Requirements

Education

  • Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) Licence preferred.
  • Diploma or Degree in Aviation Maintenance, Engineering, Aviation Management, or a related discipline preferred.

Experience/Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of aviation maintenance experience.
  • Minimum 5 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Experience managing specialized aviation technical services.
  • Experience within a Transport Canada AMO.
  • Experience working with FAA regulatory requirements is considered an asset.
  • Experience managing multiple operating locations.
  • Experience managing customer contracts and vendor relationships.
  • Oral/written English/French.
  • Regular travel (approximately 20-30%) to company facilities and customer locations across Canada and the United States.
