Job Summary:
  • Establish and administer sound quality policies and procedures to ensure product reliability and conformance to customer specifications in a cost-effective manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Promote quality related disciplines and quality attitudes of employees.
  • Establish quality standards and objectives and measurements of quality results.
  • Recommend modifications of product specification, manufacturing methods, process equipment, and testing techniques as necessary to assure compliance with company and customer quality objectives.
  • Supervise various quality and inspection personnel.
  • Conduct self in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Coordinate activities of quality department to coincide with and support continual improvement activities of production departments.
  • Establish and monitor department goals.
  • Communicate with plant, sales and customer representatives regarding product quality issues and concerns.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and write Corrective Action or other technical reports for quality concerns.
  • Support for special projects and research for the company.
  • Ensure the maintenance of quality policies, procedures, work instructions, and associated data for all products shipped from the company.
  • Perform customer print and specification reviews and provide feedback to Sales.
  • Develop and promote training of quality staff members, recommend and assist training of all plant personnel.
  • Maintain department equipment at satisfactory performance levels. Recommend new equipment and technologies as appropriate.
  • Assist in determination of disposition of material rejected in plant and advise manufacturing and production control of disposition.
  • Oversee complaint reporting system, ensure timely disposition of corrective actions, assist with customer returns.
  • Oversee chemical testing for processing fluids used in manufacturing processes
  • Advise plant management when a production operation should be suspended where quality of product is insufficient to meet the customer's requirements.
  • Participate in Feasibility Reviews activities and provide recommendations on new applications.
  • Participate in APQP meetings and approve documents prior to production release.
  • Assist in completion of customer PPAP packages for new & existing products
  • Act as liaison for internal/external third-party quality system audit activities.
  • Support corporate Management Review efforts.
  • Execute employee assessment and performance reviews.

The incumbent is expected to understand that all employees have a shared responsibility for the quality of products and related services provided to our customers. Duties and responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with the PTC Quality Management System and its policies, procedures, and work instructions as applicable to the job or function being performed.
Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements:
  • Leadership experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Metal forming and steel processing knowledge.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office suite and similar computer programs.
  • Must have working knowledge of various industry specifications.
  • Familiarity with Automotive quality requirements; APQP, PPAP, MSA, FMEA, etc.
  • Proficiency in various test methods used and the subsequent analysis of samples and test results.
  • Blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge.
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control and the use of statistical analysis software (i.e. MINITAB).
  • Bachelor's degree in technical field.

  • Other Skills and Abilities: Must be computer literate and able to work with programs such as WordPerfect, Excel, etc., and be able to learn and use HP programs such as e-mail, established programs, etc.
