The Business Intelligence Project Leader will play a critical leadership role within the firm’s Enterprise Data & Reporting function. This individual will partner closely with business stakeholders, data engineering, and BI development teams to lead reporting and analytics initiatives from intake through delivery and adoption. This role combines business analysis, solution design, and project leadership. The individual will assume end-to-end ownership of assigned data and reporting initiatives - ensuring requirements are clearly defined, development stays aligned to business objectives, timelines are managed, and solutions are successfully adopted. The ideal candidate brings strong Business Intelligence expertise (MicroStrategy or similar tools), hands-on data analysis capabilities, and demonstrated experience leading cross-functional data projects in complex environments.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Project Leadership

  • Serve as the primary lead for assigned BI/reporting initiatives from concept through delivery.
  • Drive requirements gathering, scope definition, prioritization, and timeline management.
  • Coordinate across Data Engineering, BI Developers, Architects, and business stakeholders.
  • Proactively manage risks, dependencies, and competing priorities.
  • Provide regular status reporting and executive-ready updates.
  • Understanding data models/schemas and performing hands-on data analysis with various toolsets (e.g. SQL)
  • Ensure solutions align with enterprise data strategy and governance standards.

Business Analysis & Solution Design

  • Partner with business sponsors to understand short- and long-term needs.
  • Translate business objectives into clear, structured functional requirements.
  • Create documentation including BRDs, user stories, process flows, and wireframes.
  • Conduct hands-on data analysis to validate business rules and logic.
  • Define KPIs, metrics, and reporting frameworks aligned to business goals.
  • Support evolution and enhancement of existing dashboards and reporting assets.

  • 5+ years hands on experience capturing requirements from the business and transforming them into data and reporting solutions
  •  3–5+ years leading data/reporting initiatives or acting as project lead for BI solutions.
  • Familiarity with MicroStrategy (Strategy) or similar BI tools (Power BI, Tableau).
  • Proven ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable BI solutions.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Experience preparing executive-level reporting and communicating with senior leadership.
  • Experience in the Legal and/or Financial Services industry strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of BI governance, reporting standards, and data stewardship principles.

In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance. The actual offered rate for this position will be determined based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors, including qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data and consideration of internal equity.

  • Boston: $117,200 - $178,700
  • New York: $127,900 - $195,000

This position requires hybrid on-site presence as an essential function of the role. Consistent and predictable on-site presence is required for ongoing business continuity, professional development and effective collaboration with colleagues and management.
